Local torrent websites to close down?

Quick Question not that i do use them but wat is the point of LOCAL ONLY Cap.

I mean wat can i use my 30gig on?????
 
I blame this website for an article they published awhile ago and brought this to the attention of the relevant authorities!

I cant ever recall seeing any of these artist on any of those website.

Argh, this is just nonsense. Where am I going to use my local cap now!! Why dont these ppl just go focus more on other serious crimes and leave NC alone. Im sure there are more serious things to worry about than cheating Steve Hofmeyer not having bread on his table...
 
Puh-leeze! Steve Hofmeyer on a torrent site? The reason local artists...especially black artists, don't make money, is beacuse the record companies screw them over and because the price of cds is too high for most of their fans.

RiSA isn't protecting the instrests of South African artists, its protecting the content of artists represented by it's bigger, international arms.

I don't doubt for a moment that there is piracy of South African music, but most of it isn't happening online.
 
fine the website closes down, another will soon take it's place.... erm i thought bittorrent website don't host these so called files.....

I never saw ANY of those artists mentioned on either of those two sites. Speaking generally now, I doubt that the people who visits those sites listen to that kind of music anyways...

A week or so ago, I got a quote to get a very well known band preform at a function - was about ZAR 140 000-00 for the evening.... and as they are booked two to three times a week (maybe more) it doesnt seem to me that the artists are suffering.... RiSA should seriously catch a wake up call!! If a singer is good - then the records will sell, I personally bought a few SA Band's CDs, but for the likes of Sasol Hofmeyer - I stay far far away.
 
I have never seen yvonne chaka chaka or any of the up and coming local artists on a torrent site, so please find someone else to blame for their poor performance.
 
Surely the RiSA should have been required to specify the offending songs?

I think they, and the ISPA, seriously over-stepped their authority and should be taken to task for that.
 
Wow, openweb and webafrica are going to see a 99% drop in local BW sales!

Maybe they did when they sent the TDN request to the ISPA, but the ISPA's TDN to the sites didn't. Wonder if anybody can find out? IF they didn't, they did over-step their authority.
 
I find it interesting that whenever one of those sites get mentioned over here, you suddenly see a flood of noobs coming onboard to defend their honour. They're quite loyal.

... but seriously... WTF are they? I can also honestly say I have never seen one of those artists ever listed on any P2P site in South Africa.

The kinda people who listen to that music are not the kinda people who are into torrents or Usenet.

RISA = FAIL
