for the past 2 days now the only websites i have been to is this one, google,take2,maybe 5-10 other international sites,,,and about 10 local ones. i went to you tube and watched 1 clip that was only 1:56secs. i have downloaded maybe only not more than 10 megs.

and now i haves use atleast 150 megs of my connection....the past 2 hours or so i have used 35 megs, and i hav'nt moved from myadsl.

so what is chowing my megs

i lost 4 gigs in one night and i was on this forum and one international game site.

have you checked that 1) nothing is updating in the background and 2) you are free of adware/malware/a virus?

ctrl+alt+del to bring up Task Manager and see what's running under Processes?

i see firefox is using 49,316 kb, which seems abit high i think. and i see something called (avp.exe) which is running at 28,546. i actually see now 2 avp.exe. one under my name and one under system. the one under my name stays at around 2,657. i thought they said i can use around 50000 different websites, now i'm going through like 10 and i'm almost getting capped....lol. well a few days of the same thing and it will.

the processes looks normal, but i'm not to sure exactly whats should'nt be in there.

Use a program called ProcessExplorer.

It gives you more info on programs running in the background and also which files they are linked to... theres only a handful of windows files that run all the time .... to find out start pc in safe mode.

Also check the msconfig file to see what files your pc is starting up... chances are, you might have a trojan that your antivirus has not picked up (it does happen)

Also this program cant be disabled by viruses unlike the crappy taskman... just make shortcut to the taskbar

but how will i nknow if its a trojan or something... and i dont know how to get rid of that thing with out the help of my anti virus scan....lol

why does this have to be a mission

bru, just open Task Manager for now, take a screenshot (press printscreen, open Paint, paste, save as jpeg) upload it here and let the peeps have a look ...... dodgy processes are very easy to spot.

ppl

dont u know... trojans, viruses and other spam stuff have silly file names like.... fgygygh.exe...

search 4 that file, check its properties.... all good programs files always have extra info in them....

if the file does not check out... take it out... easy as that

i'm gonna have a look again for a few days and try and see when it starts to go up,, cause its not all the time,,,like when i do something,, i'll check to see what i am using at the time it starts its hidden downlaoding

how do i put in a picutre of that screen shot for you dudes to check,, cause i'm getting pretty upset with this connection now. yesterday again, i go check a few websites and i can actually watch my bandwidth going up. 60 megs or so

even today, i'v got route sentry on, i have been on this myadsl for 45 mins, and i have used 4.5 megs (int). and i have only checked a few posts not more than 20 maybe.

i have not looked at any pictures, just reading.

please tell me how to put a screen shot on here of my task manager

Check if your windows update is enabled.... that might be the problem...

Take out pictures of ur processes running in taskmanager (remember to maximize the the taskman) using print screen and save it in paint in jpeg format...

Make sure u include all processes running and upload to image site like photobucket (search 4 something google) and paste the link here so we can have a look

you could but i dont know how to... cos i never uploaded anything to this site..

ask the mods 4 help
