One laptop charger to rule them all

LOL... what is so unique about this one? Universal chargers have been around for years now. Does it fit my proprietary HP charger port?

Hmm.. Any chance of some images of this wonderful device?
And when are they going to bring out a universal cell phone charger instead of every supplier having their own, and even single suppliers having multiple different chargers?

I wonder if the company knows that this has been available from Zakspeed for literally years? and @ R495!

Zakspeed FTW!!

Anyone know what the connectors look like ? Or will it come with a kit of adapters for the connectors ?

I wish this was around when I was still in IT retail sales. This may not sound like a gee-wizz product until you realize how (impossible) it is to get a charger. Most "universal" charges only support a very limited range of models, never mind brands - actually, I never seen one that supports all models for a single brand.

And if it is truly universal, then R700 is worth it considering the life span and usability of the product.

I don't need a universal charger. I need a battery that can last for hours and hours. I would find that more useful.

The Biggest Problem with Partserve is Partserve

I don't trust anything from this company. They always demand payment up front for goods they have in stock before their driver will deliver, and then they don't deliver.

Turns out that they haven't got what you ordered in stock, but will happily take your money and mess you around for weeks and months. Sometimes you get your products and sometimes not.

They don't do refunds either.

Had this problem with them many, many times. Will not deal with them again - ever.

<wish>I wish laptops and cellphone mkaers would standardise on one standard connector. Cellphone manufacturers: please standardise on USB! Laptops: please make your bricks use a standard kettle plug like PC's have forever - and the connector, standard 12v input.</wish>

I guess it will never happen as long as they can have this pseudo-market where they can charge what they want *read outrageous prices* for replacement chargers.

Got a quote of R500 for a genuine HP charger. Why would I pay R700 for this? You can buy a universal from many outlets. But I do not trust them. Does the big names certify this product?
I recently looked at getting a spare power adapter for my laptop and it was R1700. :o

If this thing will accommodate both my laptop and netbook I'll definitely get one just to keep at home and save me carting both bricks back and forth each day.

Sorry to pull up dead posts - anybody interested in a kettle plug to 3pin laptop charger adapter? A colleague of mine decided to have one made for his laptop, works like a dream!

Anybody else interested? PM plz!

The European Commission has made cell phone makers in the EU standardise the power connector - Nokia, Siemens, Sony-Ericksson, Sharp, NEC, Apple and others will release one standard power charge connector for all their phones.

a clover adaptor is less than R50,, why would you make something like that to save R50?

my problem with universals are that they cannot handle my lappy's 150w power rating...

They are standardising on micro-USB, good idea, but I think it would have been better to have used mini-USB. I have had a Nokia N85 with the micro-USB fitting, pretty fiddly in comparison to micro-USB like the HTC's and Motorolas.

I'm going to get one - then I have a charger cable at work, home and wherever I go - most people have either a pc plug or kettle plug!

Yeah MiniUSB would've been better, and Micro is not that much smaller than Mini!
