Like thread title asks reason is I have a Pentax MZ50 film DSLR with two lenses but at a loss with what to do with them :o

I had a K100D Super (my dad now has it). Are your lenses auto focus? The manual focus lenses work too but it's a bit fiddly to use. The K20D is great value for money.

Will post what they are tonight they are definitely auto focus though took some photos on the weekend haven't used the camera for about 3 years so was just checking if everything still worked.

Yeah, it will work just fine. Pentax hasn't changed their lens mount when going to digital or AF. They just added more electronic contacts.

The only thing to be careful of is that some third party lenses have a pin that gets in the way - I think Ricoh is the most problematic, but I haven't read about this much. If you have Pentax glass, you'll be fine.

I have an Pentax *ist DS2 DSLR (yes, it's really called that ;)) and a bunch of 30 year old lenses that my dad used to use. They still go great together.

Most old Pentax lenses are compatible with Pentax DLSR's , you just need to set to manual on the camera and (obviously) do the focusing yourself.

All K-mount lenses will work. All M42 lenses will work with an adapter (since there are no mechanics at play). As far as I know the Pentax-A lenses will even let you do Av mode (although still manual focus).

No they are both Pentax

Then you'll be fine. The only catch is their modern lenses (the DA variety) are not backwards compatible with film bodies, for the same reason that Canon's EF-S lenses don't work on the full frame bodies. The older bodies (K100D non-Super and older) don't support the SDM motors (same thing as USM/HSM/SWM) either.

I don't need the lenses was trying to see if there was anyone here who might "want" them or were I could try sell them, I have a Nikon now so the lenses are just sitting there

Aah right, I misunderstood. Let us know what you have. I *may* be interested.

K the lenses are as follows,

A Pentax SMC PENTAX FA 1:4.5-5.6 100-300mm
SMC PENTAX-FA 1:4-5.6 35-80mm

If anyone is interested PM me

If you had any fast primes I would have been interested. :(

I got a 50mm prime Pentax lens but Its manual focus - think its a F1.4 - takes great pics and you can use the focus led indicator in the viewfinder to help with focusing.

Don't use it much but its not worth selling to you sorry.. ;) :p

No worries, I've got one of those already. I'm looking for the FA-50mm f/1.4 and FA-35mm f/2

Got a Pentax K10 digital camera with the standard lens.
Would these lense offer my anything better?

Which ones? The primes I mentioned, or the ones web mentioned?

The 18-55mm kit lens is pretty good, as far as kit lenses go. The primes I mentioned are probably sharper, and they're much faster, i.e. great for low light.

The lenses web mentioned are similar to the kit lens. In fact the 35-80mm is a kit lens from the film days. So they really just give you different focal lengths.
