Communications department director-general Lyndall Shope-Mafole has resigned. The move comes just months after she announced her plans to join new ANC rival party, the Congress of the People (Cope).

So they'll just appoint another ANC loyalist. (Who might make us long for the `good old days' of Lyndall Stalin-Malofe)

Cant she take the Oh Hefty One along with her?

ass.door.way out.

next appointment is critical - elevating Ismail Vadi from chair of the parliamentary portfolio committee of communications would not be unusual and he would make an interesting appointment

I find this so funny.

Take a look here.

Modern day Africa, well played

Shope-Mafole, in turn, has denied she is leaving her post any time soon and says she is continuing as usual.

“No one has spoken to me about my leaving. No one is trying to force me to leave,” she said yesterday.

Everything is just peachy, lets all hold hands while marching off the face of the cliff.

Note that this article was 3 days ago.

Published on the same day she resigned.

Your article “Knives out for Shope-Mafole” is misleading, at best, fabrication.

The article wrongly suggests that political infighting, coupled with the department's disappointing overall performance, has resulted in rising speculation that Department of Communications (DOC) director-general Lyndall Shope-Mafole could be on her way out. What political infighting?

uh-huh

The DG communicated her intentions to join Congress of the People with the Minister beforehand. The Minister even received the letter of resignation before it went public. Even if Minister and the DG's family could not persuade her to stay in the ANC, the DG did make up her mind, and we must respect her decision. Political association cannot make them enemies.

The relationship between the Minister and the DG remains professional and unfazed by these lies.

In the end, whatever political views we may have, our common objective is for the betterment of all South Africans, that is the tie that binds us.

Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead!

Best news to hit SA telecoms for a long time.

Hmm, the problem with weeds is that you pull 1 out and 2 shall follow.

Naturally I'm very happy to hear of Stalin-Mafole's departure, and I expect that Poison Ivy will soon put her other foot in the grave, but has anyone else read the statements made by Stalin-Mafole in Lesley Stones' article "Shope-Mafole resigns to help COPE"...?

Stalin-Mafole's arrogance seems to know no bounds - I would not be surprised if she is soon expelled from COPE for being too big for her own booties.

Did the anc sell their stake in telkom yet?

If not, then it doesnt matter WHO the new minister will be, as long as they are in the ANC cabinet you know we will be in for a ride..
