Very interesting season opening race in Australia. Next one this weekend is Malaysia:).

McLaren: Sepang unlikely to see significant improvement

McLaren may have scored an unlikely podium in Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix, but the team still freely admit there is little chance of them challenging for victory in this coming weekend’s Malaysian race.

Both Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen struggled for pace throughout the Melbourne event and it was only a mixture of good fortune (two safety cars and Jarno Trulli’s time penalty), strategy and great driving from Hamilton that saw the team come away with third place.

Season calender.

Rubbish good fortune had nothing to do with hamilton getting 3rd bwhaha :p

Yea i know it is only tuesday but damn i am so excited i am actually wishing the week away :).

I'm so excited for this next race. I want to see if any of the cars will perform better after the last race. My poor Massa really struggled so i'm hoping he does better this time around. :)

ANyone brave enough to predict the podium 3? :D

Yea it is a bit grey you are right. Perhaps they should introduce more of a clearer rule for situations like this. This wont be the last time something like this happens.

"The FIA ruled that Hamilton provided misleading information on the circumstances leading to Trulli being penalised for passing him under safety car conditions on lap 57."

What misleading information did he provide?

Look i am not a hamilton supporter but why do this to get 3rd when he was sitting 3rd?

Makes no sense why he would do it, to me it seems people were confused with the rule. Just a mis understanding and the FIA are going about it all wrong, make trulli 3rd hamilton 4th and move on from the matter.

i am also a massa supporter and want to see him do well but realistically i cannot see much change from the last gp in all honesty and i am loving the shake up as well.

I really don't think he meant to do it intentionally either. I think it was just a confusing situation. Glad to see Trulli got his position back. He had a good race! Deserved to be on podium.

Well, according to Trulli Hamilton slowed down so much it looked like something was wrong in the car.

So maybe he did have some problems for a while and then recovered?

I dunno but a big fuss is being made over what i deem as confusion, i guess they really have nothing better top do with their time :p

Thats is the first thing I thought to myself. ;)

And if you consider that Toyota withdrew the appeal, on what grounds did the stewards meet? Anyway, I have my thoughts on the reason.

Should we even bother to watch this weekend, if the FIA can just change classification the way they see fit? I'll be up at 3:50 AM to watch FP1 LIVE!! No more delayed nonesense. :D

Even if they withdrew it sox, the duty is for the stewards to ensure nobody loses out here and from what i can tell everything was fine until the point hamilton slowed down so much trulli had no choice but to go past, to me it seems as though mclaren were confused and not sure what to do.

The stewards need to set things right regardless if toyota withdrew.

This i do not think has anything to do with hamilton or mclaren but ensuring the right results comes out of this. If they give hamilton a penalty well then i will put your tinfoil hat on :p

What you talking about? They disqualified him. No 25 second penalty, just a straight disqualification.

Penalty? DQ? Who cares? The b@st@rds lied, were caught and now they're paying the price!

Yea i dunno WTF is going on now, i cannot understand why hamilton would slow down allow trulli through then lie about it when he was third. none of this makes any sense to me in all honesty.

/puts on sox's tinfoil hat

Very strange in my opinion
