Telkom prepaid HSDPA here soon

This is indeed good news. Telkom has a strong mobile strategy, and their ultimate aim is to provide users with a 'bundle' of bandwidth and voice minutes which can then be used on any technology platform - ADSL, HSDPA etc. Vodacom has the same idea, and I guess the question is who will be first.

Well, Vodacom does not have a fixed line offering. Which means that if Telkom plays its cards right, they'll come out tops in terms of value proposition.

Great news, even if coming from Telkom. I'll by myself a sim card as soon as they have prepaid. There's already coverage in Umhlanga. :D

If they are cheaper than Vodacom/MTN and I have coverage I will take off work to get one of their SIM cards ASAP. Just think. My little E220 hitting the full 7.2 mb/s. I want to cry...

You can also check if you have coverage by manually searching for network operators on your cell, if SA02 comes up, that's Telkom.

Does anyone know if you will be able to flash your existing Vodacom/MTN E220 with the Telkom firmware from this page?

Interesting. Maredi Telecom is supplying the 3G Modems. They have just taken up arms against Telkom regarding a tender issue.

Wonder what will happen to the gurantees on these if they decide to end the business relationship?

Are we sure this isnt an april fools joke from Telkom to get our hopes up only for them to turn around and say "Gotcha".

Any news article on the 1st of April is suspicious to me, but this one checks out.

Although I'm not in the coverage area, it looks like a nice option for the future.

i don't get it, first you folks want telkom to die now you praise them.

*confused*

This will push their competitors towards price reductions. Either Vodacom comes to the party or we move to Telkom prepaid 3G.
