just saw it now, i think some people want today to be made a national holiday.

poison ivy has died

just heard this over classic fm. Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri (sp?) passed away in a pretoria hospital at age 71 or something. shame. i dont bear any ill will towards her or her family, but at least she will not be able to stand as minister again (i hope).

anyone able to confirm this?

I express heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dr Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri
What he said.

With her incisive intellect she has made an invaluable contribution to the development of policy in various fields including Information and Communication Technology.
Sorry, but that is a farse.

Wow. I know this is insensitive but maybe this is what SA communications need right now?

I am sympathetic for her family, but I'm not sad that she's dead. It seems that death was the only force that could unseat her from her throne. She was an appallingly bad Minister of Communications, but despite this two different presidents refused to replace her. Moreover, I don't think that her awfulness was a consequence of technical incompetence so much as it was of sheer malice. How many more telecoms-related jobs would South Africans have if she'd actually acted on behalf of the people rather than a small, greedy cabal of ANC backers? How many people lost their fixed line because they couldn't afford Telkom's outrageously high prices? Why is South Africa ranked 110th in the world for internet access? Good riddance.

It's official, it was on Morning Live a few minutes ago. All the usual platitudes from Government concerning her struggle history and so on.

Only thing she struggled with was getting up after a healthy three course meal

Condolences...now PLEASE...can we get on with it?

My condolences to the family. Death is never a pleasant thing.

HOWEVER!!

In light of the fact that this pathetic excuse for a public servant has been single handedly responsible for the agonising rate of change within South Africa's telecommunications space, perhaps good can come out of her passing? She goes to the grave with secrets of just how much Telkom owes her for her abortive handling of liberalisation of the industry and the fact that she single-handedly madew poor people poorer and more ignorant.

Karma's a hell of a thing.

your guys are k*k insensitive

Come on her family has lost a mother , grandmother and wife ..

she was incompetent just like many of our other ministers, if anyone should be blamed, its the clown that puts them in place..
dont know how you guys can be happy about someones death just because they were bad at their job
