I wonder what was the nominal amount? R1? This was really an expensive exercise for Telkom shareholders that further exposed the lack of leadership at Telkom.

Doesn't multichoice still have the rights to most of the sport though? In particular rugby?
I have a slight problem with the "selling" of the licence. Firstly in the EC ACT it states that a foreign company may own more than 20% in a SA company (directly or indirectly), and secondly in the PAY TV licences that were issued if there is a change in shareholding of more than 40% in the company they will have to go back to ICASA and re-apply.
What about the restriction on Goreign ownership

Considering Telkom was going to close TelkmMedia no this is not bad news. If it was not for this TelkomMedia would not be around anymore.
