Virtual Earth gets 3D Photosynth views

hey.... didn't google earth are do this?
 
Not quite. You thinking of street view.
Photosynth is actually a bit of a mindblowing technology.
Uses an amazing image processing routine that allows it to gather everyday photographs of things, calculate where in space they were taken and stitch them together to create a 3D environment. So you snap a pic with your phone, someone else snaps a pic of the same thing you did from a different angle, and so on, and it generates a 3D model of the subject.
