Hi im trying to register a free za.net accoount but is unsuccessfull.

I keep on getting the error:

Your NEW request for odnwug.za.net has been rejected for the following reason(s):

ERROR: form incomplete. Please fill in item 5a
ERROR: form incomplete. Please fill in item 6a
ERROR: You cannot have the same nameserver listed twice
ERROR: Nameserver is not authoritative for odnwug.za.net

Please do NOT send this error message or any templates to [email protected].

I do fill in all the information. What must i put in the domain name server section? The qwbserver will be run locally. What i did was is that i have put my two dns server ip's in. I want to run the webserver on one of the public ip's. Can anyone pelase help me.

PS: Im with IS

The correct (recalled from how I had to do it quite some time ago) sequence is that you arrange 2 DNS records to point to your domain and *then* only do you do the .za.net application - simple.

Of course, that leaves you having to find people who'll do DNS for you, but that's left as an exercise for you in getting meeting new and interesting people! :D

Call IS, ask them for the DNS settings, and give them the information....

It IS as simple as DynDNS :) You have a public IP address with IS. Give IS the domain name that you want, ask them to create a DNS pointer to your public IP address. Also ask them for the DNS servers. Then register the domain name, using the IS servers....

i do not think that is free? Did anybody tried that with IS yet? I think it might be R60 for a domain name

I've used zoneedit succesfully and quite easily in the past for .za.net. I'm not sure but I think they do dynamic dns as well. I think I've used dyndns succesfully for .za.net as well in the past.

You're misunderstanding Kameelperdza, the Domain that you are trying to add must already be listed on 2 DNS servers.

i.e. You have to get hold of somebody that runs DNS servers, like IS, and tell them to add your domain to their DNS servers, for which they can charge you a fee.

Its not free, you rent a public IP address from them right? All you are asking them to do is create a pointer to the relevant domain. The domain registration is completed as per your OP, but using IS DNS servers....

Im trying to create a domain www.odnwug.za.net So must i ask is create a pointer to www.odnwug.za.net using the public ip?

We have a business dsl which give use 5 public ip's

You have to speak to IS, they will create the DNS record to point to your webserver's static IP on their DNS servers.

use www.everydns.net , these guys provide free DNS servers.Go to the site and create your zone files on 2 of there free dns servers.Once thats setup then fill in the application form , and specify your two dns servers as ns1.everydns.net and ns2.everydns.net.I currently have many personal domains setup like this and dont pay a single cent
