We have 2 contract SIM cards and 2 prepaid in our family. Why can we not connect with the prepaid ones? Only the 2 contract SIMS can.
Saw on TV news today that MTN has congestion probs. We can call on the prepaid but data does not work.

My opinion is that people are using their cellphones with Opera mini and windows 6 mobile to surf the net when they are bored. This congests the system. Now they are copying Eskom with loadshedding. Shedding the prepaid off. Our prepaid still not working. Only for voice.

I used to get excellent service from MTN. for the last 2 years was on there mtn topup option. mychoice topup. this was b4 they changed packages. then begining this year the data networks would always go down. now i am on there anytime 200 NOT topup and networks are great. only problem is they wanna come bill me for data usage over and above the "R200" "airtime" ( its in quotes cos aparently something they don't tell you is that any sms or data calls made are charged as extra. so the R200 is for calls only. absolute bull****. don't call it airtime if i can't choose what to do with it. call it talk time. this is only reason why i am considering switch back to topup.

Perhaps I should try loading a data bundle on the prepaid and see if it works.

I loaded a 1GB data bundle on a pre-paid SIM for my father in Somerset West yesterday. He was unable to connect on the pre-paid SIM, although he could connect using his contract SIM.

This morning I called 083 1555 and I was told that because it was a pre-paid number the consultant had to "open up the internet service manually".
Once this was done he could connect just fine.

My contract expires next week so I will be on prepaid from then. Will do as you say. Thanks.
