I just discovered this after querying my bill - 808 was predictably useless, but the Pavillion Service Centre gave me the correct information. It turns out you can't do anything you want with an Anytime contract. Once you pass 20% of your monthly allocated value for data usage you are charged separately, i.e. if you have R200, once you use more than R40 for data all additional data will be charged for and NOT taken out of your available air time! I had R600's worth of airtime left at the end of the month but was charged R30 extra for using data.

There is no indication of this on their brochure's or on the MTN website. What a scam! You have been warned!

Thanks, I also had like 500-600 Rand left and used my Data for a few days when my phone line was down.

What a scam indeed!

Thanks for the warning!
Not many can afford such potentially devastating charges!
Mtn better pull their socks up as Vodacom is getting praised on there side.

Huh?!? There is nothing in their T&C about this. The closest such exception is a warning that the contract shouldn't be primarily used for data purposes. WTF!

I also use my Anytime 100 contract for data. Is this is true, MTN should be dragged over hot coals.
