Rule of Thumb, I don't give users the choice. **** their privacy, if they want to surf kiddie porn and back it up to the server its their problem not mine.

Users will ALWAYS forget their passwords (even if you make it as simple as password or 123456 or their name). So the encryption will anally rape the poor technician trying to restore the data because the user forgot what his or her password were.

No thanks to the advert. Novel idea, but when it got to point 4 I was getting serious flash backs of "Click this now to receive a special deal for only $47 today!" and to read several testimonials and see several YouTube videos with big yellow lettering and "but wait, there's more!" added onto it.

If there's a new service that a company wants to punt on here, by all means, do so, but don't do it in an "informative article" format. Go, "HERE, WE HAVE AN AWESOME BACKUP SOLUTION"

Over half that article is useless to me
 
Agree AcidRaZor 100% :)

At work we use subversion (migrated to CVS) and thats it. If you want to commit some private porn then you can create your own repository but everyone still has access eventually.

For my personal stuff I now use dropbox and store my subversion repository in it, best of both worlds.

For my wifes work PC I use a remote hosted subversion repo - works great, specialy after the time I friggen nuked her home directory by accident !!!
 
usually everything is backed up to the server and then from there more back ups are made at the end of the day?

well from a business point of view it is stupid to not make backups when your IT systems are what you will need to backup anything that goes wrong.

Fully agree with AcidRaZor.

Also, backup from within a business enterprise environment is a totally different consideration to my own Home Office environment lacking the luxury of servers, etc. Here we need to follow different, affordable, routes to satisfy the self same need for backups ... often with slimmer bandwidth & caps, etc.
