Telkom’s fixed line slide continues

telkom is going to start getting desperate and push price so high that it will kill telkom finally, telkom is dependent on us...
 
the last few articles concerning telkom is starting to feel like a silly soap opera where nothing new happens yet everyone keeps watching
 
An interesting statistic is that the number of postpaid ISDN channels – an outdated technology which many international operators have started to phase out - increased over the past year from 754,000 to 781,000. This may be an indication of the lack of affordable, reliable alternatives to ISDN in the local market.

This has little to do with Internet access or even voice from individual handsets. Vast majority of these are being used for PBX trunk lines, suppose one could use this as a barometer for business activity/growth.

Counter argument is, if data access (not neccessarily broadband) was cost effective in SA, most would be using SIP trunks on their PBXs instead.

That's 4,450,999 too many, the last line is reserved exclusively for Malema, because he's in a class of his own.
 
This year's slide is less than previously predicted by analysts. The predictions were for a 12-15% drop due to the second network operator (Neotel) and prepaid cellular services.
 
problem is, you cant have ADSL without Telkom .... and you cant have ADSL without the normal land line phone ... what a joke. Got us by the balls! I'd rather pay R600p/m for iBurst (which I do - twice over) than spend 1 cent on anything from Telkom.

Telkom will have to drop pricing! Across the board! It will have to ensure a spurt in uptake of its services. What is it doing?????????????

I would never spend 600 bucks with iburst, flippin hell man iburst is horrible in terms of speed.

At least my 4 meg line runs at 400kbs, so it basically does that a 4 meg line should, iburst claim speed but rarely do you see that speed.
 
That's silly, I use my telkom phone all the time.
It's sooo much cheaper than cellular calls.

Oh wait ... I get it ... you have a company cell phone on a massive contract.
 
I think another contributing factor is that due to the large scale of continuing cable theft. and in some cases, areas being repeatedly targeted, to the point where Telkom are just refusing to replace the cable.

If they replace every bit of stolen copper with fibre .... hmmmm
