Hi all.

I've been busy for a few weeks with a little pet project which would hopefully be an easy reference/guide for new and old members to keep track of offerings that are in our local market.

We've always got a scenario of peeps asking about which ISP's to choose and though they all have their pro's and con's.
Naturally that's always going to be up for discussion and assitance.
I hope the spreadsheet will start to serve as an easy reference point to compare pricing.

It's in it's infancy and I will be upadting it as I get time to and will be updating wirless offerings, like 3G, Wimax and iBurst as time goes on as well as other DSL ISP's.

Please assist me by giving your input and if it all makes sense.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

rpm should be attaching it soon, I also hope this thread could get some virtual glue as well.

If there are any discrepancies that you all come across, please let me know.

I tried this, it was to much info for one person to accumulate.

Features list for ADSL:
1. Local only / Blended
2. SAIX Backbone / IS Backbone / Other
3. Shaped / Unshaped
4. 24 hour telephone support / office hours telephone support / no telephone support
5. Toll free / Sharecall / Direct line telephone support
6. 24 hours email support / office hours email support / no email support
7. 24 hours ticket system support / office ticket system support / no ticket system
8. Never Expires / Carry-over for 2 months / Expires at end of the month / Expires after 30 days
9. Credit Card / Debit Order / EFT / Cheque

If you setup the initial spreadsheet with all the attributes, we can have a look at it and tell you if you're missing somebody / something in this thread and you can keep it up-to-date.

Well I think I've pretty much covered everything besides the support aspects.
Will look into that.
It was a helluva lot of information to consider and hopefully it makes sense to those that require that much information.
EDIT: Oh and will have to look at number 8 as well :)

Okay, so, there is going to be one attached soon ... *sigh*

It's up now ;)

Thanks rpm :)

+1

Nice work.

The more I look at Do Broadband 3, the more I want that 4mb line.

The spreadsheet ... it's there it's there. :D
Comprehensive! Nice job shake!

EDIT:

4GB telkom is unshaped.
Need to add SAINET ... how do we go about doing that?

Toh - see that I have Do3 listed as Do2 as well - oops sorry will have to have that changed.

I saw that but it is obvious that you meant Do 3. I sommer changed it myself.

But thanks. It really looks great. This needs a sticky.
No more "What should I get" threads.

Would be nice to see a exact copy of this in 6 months time, after Seacom made an impact.

Yeah have to get around to SAINET as well - they were my next on my list after Cybersmart.
It's on my to-do list.
They've got really good offers - especially those DSL and 3G combos - insanely good pricing IMO.

Great job!!

If made a sticky, will you be keeping it updated?

Well done again.

If you really feel like a big project...

http://www.ispa.org.za/about/memberlist.shtml

I'll pay R100,00 for my copy of an up to date, from lowest to to highest pricing, operational niche summary/reference/comparison chart on all ISPA members and all non members you can find...

I'm sure others here will gladly pay for a copy of your work too. :)

 That'll cut into all of my drinking time :erm: :p

Thanks and yes I will be keeping it updated - I'll do my best to touch on it at least once a week if I can.

Update - busy updating the spreadsheet with SAINET at the moment, should be ready later today.

Mmm I don't think I'll go any further at the moment with any DSL ISP based offerings after SAINET for the moment, as I think those already listed, cover most of the bigger ISP's.
Though still haven't added Openweb yet, so will have to do them after SAINET is done...

After Openweb, I'll be branching out into Wireless ISP's and offerings like 3G, Wimax and iBurst.
