MultiChoice looks to web, mobile TV

Yeah I don't understand how that will work? Do they run independent lines, or does it come through our normal broadband lines? Who then pays for the bandwidth used, will it be local, and what line speed is required?

Just finished a presentation about MC's IP service - article to follow soon. Mostly aimed at estates, hotels etc at this stage -- needs multiple Mbps consistant speed...

Sounds great! The 5 or so people in possession of that sort of uncapped ADSL connection are probably really excited! :D

well, with 8M coming soon and cheaper BW, I think its a very real possibility, they been doing this overseas for years. I just hope we can get other option than DSTV.
DSTV is truly another horribly overpriced, monopoly gone wrong, that only know how to push the 'repeats' button. Really, we paying waaaay to much for our internet and TV. ITS BS

I can't see them going down this route [realistically] unless they have been feeding us lies all along. With internet comes piracy. With [or without] their special little box it will be a matter of time before their content is available *cough* lets say legally challenged.

Anyone notice those nifty little USB slots on the SD PVR's? (I'm not sure atm if the HD ones have them too). There were much hype and promise about them and in the end, they were not used. Lots of reasons given and one was prevelant: Piracy.

So I expect that at this stage will be contained in lots more articles and discussions but I certainly won't hold my breath.

In a country where people dont even want to visit youtube because of bandwidth prices, they go ahead and talk IPTV? These guys are in dreamland.

Excellent way to side step the need for a TV license if you want only DSTV. I hope it will be VOD where you buy minutes upfront and then you can watch anything until your minutes is used up.
