Interim SABC board starts off strong

The newly appointed interim board of the SA Broadcasting Corporation, making an early report to Parliament’s communications committee, told MPs on Tuesday that they have identified a number of key deliverables they hope to achieve by the end of their six-month tenure.

We can't be charged per meg of TV watched.
Are we to pay an interconnect fee when watching through DSTV?
I can see it now: expensive pay as you go TV.
Share-TV between 10pm and 2am.
Unlimited TV between 2am and 4am.
Oh God please, shoot me now ...
 
why does it seem to me that the SABC's board is operational, whereas boards are generally overseers? what is SABC's management doing, or have they all been suspended?
 
She declined to be specific when questioned by Nicky van den Berg of the Democratic Alliance about which departments were not paying the SABC what they owed.

Is poor Irene Charnley also being controlled by government?
What on earth is wrong with the name and shame policy?
Why does she feel obliged to protect people who are failing?

Where is the transparency that is REQUIRED of a company that is run by government for the country?
 
Ismail Vadi the committee chairman told her that he approved of the fact that the entire board flew to Cape Town in economy seats, and were not met by a limousine at the airport but rather a taxi from Gugulethu.

I am forced to watch this SABC fiasco from the outside, and am still quite in awe as to how the perpetrators of the failure have slithered into the background, blissfully enjoying their massive bonuses and whatever other perks they managed to wangle.

I wonder if this new temporary board has anything whatsoever in their contracts to protect us, perhaps enforcing a smidgeon of liability onto them for their actions?
