Someone told me that Telkom now allows you to get an ADSL "standalone" line, which means you don't have to pay for the phone number any more. Is this true? I'm paying rental on a number that I've never used, and it would be nice if I could cancel it.

together with a 100GB cap, unshaped, 24Mbps, all for the incredible price of R200 p/m*

This offer is not valid for customers in South Africa, and it will never EVER be.... HAHA suckers

hahahahhahahahahhaha never heard of that.....

thats like buying a car with no wheels

suuure Telkom has also unbundled the local loop for anyone to enjoy... what a day it has been!

Lol, sorry guys. Just trying to confirm questionable information.

if you guys read it correctly you would know what he meant:

At the moment Telkom is charging you for a normal telephone line and if you install ADSL they charge you line rental for that as well. You can't get an ADSL line without paying for the normal line rental as well. This is quite possible as in the UK you only pay for one line rental, as in effect it is only one line that they provide both services on.
