that's a lot easier to swallow then the R3400 for an HD5850 and the R5000 for an HD5870 :p.

So Nvidia is selling the GTX 285 TOP (well Asus actually) at about the same price as the HD5870, yet the ATI canes then pisses on the Nvidia card? Lol.

That pricing is still excl vat...so not all that special. Also thats the suppliers price so expect to pay quite a bit more.

The 5850 is comparable to the GTX 285 in performance.
But it's a 1000 bucks cheaper :)

The 5870 isn't too far behind the GTX 295, and costs as much as a 285 :)

ATI/AMD +10

I think the HD5850 beats the GTX285! good god AMD has done well, I applaud the engineers!

One more thing, the ATI's have an awe striking amount of Flops (processing power). So when programs start to use the graphics cards more, we will see certain applications become redundant on CPU's (such large, number crunching programs).

Yes they have.
The only thing is that it is comparing old generation cards with the new one. Once Nvidia release their new card (hopefully before year end) we can compare everything. Pirce , performance and so on. Untill I can do that, I am not buying either Nvidia or ATI.

There's no doubt that the new nVidia cards will be really powerful.... gt300 or Fermi cards will probably cost an arm and a leg to buy.

It will interesting to see how the nVidia cards perform.

The most impressive thing is just the prices.
Even if it is comparing the old generation to the new.
It'll take something else for AMD to take the performance crown, but they're top at the bang/buck crown.

The GTX 275 was at a very special place with great performance, but the fact that the 5850's price is close to it, blows it out of the water.

If you bought a 4890, you'd be pretty peeved off right now:)

Depends on what you bought the 4890 for, they were going for 1999 at PCzone on their birthday sale so some people at least didnt pay too much for the outgoing model

i just bought a 4890, was only like R2200, so I don't really mind :)

more than enough for me anyway :)

What's concerning is that ATI wants to release the HD57x0 range. Only problem is that they will be priced at about R2000 and R1500 for the HD5770 and HD5750 respectfully. Now, the HD5770 will perform just under the HD4890 and the HD5750 will perform just under the HD4870. thing is, will people willingly buy the HD57x0 if they know the HD48x0 counter part will perform the same and cost less?

do the std editions come with free aids an sifilis an crabs and dat stuff?
think i might skip those

As far as I could tell, those Club3D cards were 100% reference cards. Good buy, if you ask me.

Shame the poor dudes who bought the 4890 recently :D only a few bucks more for a 5850 :D.

Mine only cost me like 2k so not really phased and given:
1. Only Dirt2 supports DX11 atm
2. 4890 is future proof for at least 6 months

I can safely say that by the time i need a new card, prices would have dropped so its a win/win imo. Yes, im an optimist.
