I purchased a XFX 9800gtx last year march sometime from PC Zone Durban (Pinetown). Last night During a game of Call of Duty my card died on me :(

Theirs lines across my monitor and I cant get into Windows. So i managed to a get a hold of another Card and my PC boots up fine. I phoned PC Zone and the card is not under warranty anymore because the store only has a year warranty. But according to the XFX Webpage all cards come with 3 year warranty. And I also know Axiz sells XFX cards and they come with 3 year warranty. Is there anyway I can get my card swapped out? with Axiz or overseas?

I paid a lot for this card and bought it when it just came out....and I was really really looking forward to Modern Warfare 2. Hope I can sort this out before the release of Modern Warfare 2.

Welcome tot he club.

I bought my XFX from PC Zone too, 8800GTX in Dec 2006 and they also said 1 year, when I contested this, they agreed it was a 2 year.

Mine died recently and obviously I can't get it replaced and even though I registered my card with XFX, the lifetime warranty does not cover South Africa.

Where do you get 3 years info from?

If you manage to get the 3 year thing in writing, please let me know because I'd love to get mine exchanged.

Just so you know, PC Zone are a bunch of evil bastards. Every item they carry, unless specified by default carries 1 year, even Seagate hard drives, Transcend memory etc; Bastards, I won't give them another cent of my cash.

That is B@##S***, and a scandal as Pc zone should swop out that card , products normally have a manufacturers warranty , like intel products carry a 3 year warranty, seagate carry 3 year warranty, so u actaully saying even though thay have a longer warranty PC zone only gives a one year-

I would take that card back 2 PC zone and insist that they swop it out for you or report them to a consumer council and post them on hellopeter and setup a petition to boycot them.

show them this post I am sure thay would give you two cards instead of one. :D as they seem to have some gr8 fans on this forum.
next time rather get sum1 to purchased directly from a distrubutor, like axiz , rectron etc..

Joe_M, yep, I once emailed them for a quote on a product just for fun, within 5mins I got a reply, when I asked them to query the warranty, stating the product in questiona ctually has a 3 yr, well - they just never ever got back to me.

FYI - XFX Manufacturer warranty with Axiz (distributors for XFX) is 2 years Axiz warranties: http://www.axiz.co.za/axiz/support/w... /Default.aspx

Sorry. May have mixed up the number of years. But I knew for sure that the suppliers are more than a year...My card is still in two year range.

Hope I can get my card swapped with Axiz!

A friend of mine once bought a DVD-Writer once from the store, and they refused to swap it out even though it was under warranty. He threw a fit in the store and they got security to es-court him out  lol.

Previously my bro used to work for a IT company and I used to buy from suppliers. Since he has a new Job I don't know anyone that can buy from suppliers. I bought from PC-Zone because it was convenient at that time and a lot people say they prices are cheaper than everyone else....

Dodgy, makes me wonder how legal they are.

well I hope axiz can help u , which I doubt they will , & u know y Pc zone is cheaper cause thay shying awy from their obligation 2 swop out a 2 year warranty items , I would take this up with the managment , we dont have a pczone in cpt or I have,nt seen one as yet , but i am sure to stay awy frm them if this is how thay treat their customers.

you can try esquire as they suplly directly to us members of Myadsl & the pricing is not bad , i've been dealing with them for a number of years or you can try matrix warehouse , have not have any bad vibes frm them.

I would show them this post and insist u get a replacement. let us know what happens. :)

Disgusting....

BTW I heard PC Zone uses refurbished HDDs in there PCs

A friend of mine bought a router but didn't do what they needed it to, so they tried to return it and PC Zone said no way because it was opened, eventually they agreed by ONLY if the customer could get it re-wrapped, ie: cellophane.

And then they took it back and got store credit.

WTF kind of company is this?

Huh....that sounds very dodgy.

Perhaps their resident advertiser would like to respond.

Pretty despicable, they should get less coverage from the Zones Zionists.

I very surprised that PCzone or Charlie82 haven’t responded to Kyubi_Brat's plight , this poor oke sitting with a dud GPU and no hlp frm them and also 2 get some clarity fm them bout the items that have 2 or 3 warranty n only getting 1 year warrnty frm this retailer which I think is BS

I am afraid to say there is always a gotcha with prices that seem too good to be true, and this again highlights the lack of service from them. We all ooooh and aaaah over their hard-to-beat prices and wonder how they do it. Clearly they discount the "service" portion off the purchase price and you carry the risk and hassle when things go wrong. You also don't get much in-store service either.

It's not Charlie's duty to respond, she just "knows some peeps there" as stated many times here before. Take it up with management direct.
