They might pretend to have a plan, but since 2000 I haven't seen anything executed. Only when Mandela went "well where is the 2nd national operator" did Thabo wake up and SORT OF did something to get Neotel going, and even then, it took several years just for the bitches to stop whining about who gets what share...

I dont think Neotel can be called a NATIONAL operator, but rather an APACHE operator. Because they only cover " 'n patchie hier en 'n patchie daar" :D
 
the only in/of icasa is to enrich themselves.
 
If there are changes at ICASA and we see the broadband gates opening up from government side, a big concern is that the ISP's might get greedy and try to keep the pricing up to boost profit margins, since we are already used to caps. We all know that this is greedy South Africa.

This might stop us from getting true uncapped on par with other international countries.

This is a chance that I would be prepared to take. I also think that there are quite a few ISP's out there and not all would want to jump into bed with each other and collude on pricing. The fact that this is greedy South Africa with many ISP's might be a good thing as it would force proper competition as they would want as much of the pie as possible. I am not an economist so I am not sure if my thoughts make economic sense.
