Have the Kingston flash drives improved on their 0.5 MB/s write speeds?

Did a speed test on one I found and that's what I got... read speeds of 1MB/s; they've always seemed slow to me.
Verbatim 8GB had 7MB/s write, and 27MB/s read :eek:
