Cell C’s mobile broadband plans

Great news! Even though they are very late, any competition is good competition.

Looking forward to whats they will offer.
 
I also think this is good news. For Telkom Mobile and Cell C to gain market share they will have to be competitive on pricing - and in time Vodacom and MTN will have to follow.
 
I am happy to hear this. The thing is telecoms companies in future will be relegated to pure IP infrastructure provisioning. People will do what they want on that as long as it is fast and handy. :)

Not so sure about that...
Voda and MTN have seen fit thus far to let CellC go off on it's own mission when it comes to pricing.
Woza Weekend went on forever until Voda made a few pathetic stabs at adding the word "FREE" into their Marketing arsenal. MTN didin't even bother.
I wonder if they have learned a lesson (after seeing the dramatic growth of CellC's base), or if those 'Big Machines' are still as heavy as ever, and still just as slow to respond/react to another CellC onslaught.

Not to be rude .... but why always this need to tell us what been planned, as if to dangle a carrot before us.

How about ... this is whats released and active and you can get it here.
 
How can the CEO of a Mobile operator claim that 3G is "hype" and then a year later change his mind. That is seriously short sighted.

But regardless, more operators means better deals for consumers. Good news.

It's enough to tell once about planning, and then do as planned. Next time tell that doing already at X, Y and Z (in limited terms) and ready in dd/mm/yyyy. For third time - launch. That way meant to do, not like Neotel.

They will think they will lose.

A first for SA..............Which is excellent

Guys HSDPA over 900mhz means no more external antennae.

It means good signal for high speed data.

I have been asking ICASA to redistribute 900mhz spectrum to all operators for the benefit of 900mhz HSDPA roll-out. Since Cell-C has obtained some 900mhz spectrum, it means they will be the first Operator to do so in SA.

You will be surprised at the signal quality of 900mhz HSDPA.

If they get the Backhaul sorted properly they will be a very very big player in the Broadband market.

Telkom-Mobile when launching is going to improve the Value proposition for Wireless Broadband offering. More megs for your moola.

Hopefully Cell-C will try to compete with Telkom-Mobile prices and not VodaCom's or MTN's Pricing.

The ultimate GOAL is to leave MTN and VodaCom with their High Voice & Data Tarriffs and leave them to see their Bottom line shrink so badly.

Once there is an even spread of customers over the BIG 5 Operators the real fun starts.

Right now everything is skewed in the Favour of MTN & VodaCom.

Thats ALL Changing - Guaranteed.

Boycott MTN & Vodacom , Use anyone else, thats all we are saying.

Vote with your money and don't complain about high prices.

This is really wonderful news!
I'm not a Cell C subscriber, or a big believer in their previous attempts at gaining market share, but as the guy said, coming late to market can have its benefits and I'll be holding thumbs that they pull this off properly!
 
One one hand I hope they bring much needed competition, but on the other hand I hope they fail miserably.

I remember about 2 years ago CELLC were very arrogant about building a newgen network.

"3G is a waste of time and money and will never be part of our core focus"

Im not sure which rocket scientist CEO decided that. I hope he had his ass handed to him
