2009: Twitter and Facebook make it big

I still don't really get the whole Twitter concept and I have no idea why it's so successful! It's sort of like FacebookLite or Facebook: Status Edition :confused:
 
I'm quite a news junkie and although I obviously visit all my favourite news websites every day, Twitter is an easy way to get a live feed into your browser of what's happening in the world right now, with a different perspective. Any breaking news story hits Twitter first. The trick is to 'follow' the right people/sources.

I also use it to communicate with likeminded people, on various topics. It's something I can live without but it's fun while I use it. If you don't have anything worthwhile to say, Twitter is probably not for you. Some people complain that they're not interested to read whether someone just brushed their teeth or not - well, the solution is quite simple, don't follow idiots who would write rubbish like that! :)

I use Facebook for completely different reasons, it's simply an easy way to stay in touch with my real friends. I use very high privacy settings on FB so the type of things I communicate on there is completely different to the things I discuss on public networks like Twitter. It's also the easiest way to get in touch with people you may have lost contact with over the years.

The fact that you can easily connect to both networks from your cellphone has definitely enhanced it's usability.
 
I really couldn't give a damn if Jimmy123 is taking a crap right now.
 
I'm not a fan of the new Facebook privacy settings. I can barely stalk anyone any more, so what's the point of Facebook. I'll probably be visiting the site once a year from now on, down from once every two months currently. Boo Facebook!

I use facebook to keep up with friends, and twitter tokeep up with news, quotes and funny/interesting things
 
I must admit I am addicted to FACEBOOK I have some good friends their and some great ex gf also :p. Twitter I use just to get updates from Cydia.
 
Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Google Wave for me :) Twitter is my favourite. Nothing like snapping a photo of something awesome whilst on the go and uploading it to Twitter.
