Music pirate wants new trial

A U.S. graduate student who was ordered to pay four record labels a combined $675,000 for downloading and sharing songs online is asking a judge to grant him a new trial or reduce the damages.
 
In all honesty the penalties come nowhere near the damages, typical US legal system. Whatever happened to the scales of justice which are supposed to strike a balance.
 
Your 100% - the justice system in the US is notoriously unfair when it comes to monetary damages. The dumb people suing there don't realize it drives up costs and then everyone gets screwed - see health care for example - Doctors needing 4.5 million in malpractice insurance. Wonder why a visit to see him costs so much! IDIOTS!
