Then it seems the telephones work, so why not call all customers. I mean it cannot be expected from the customer to foot the bill. Another solution would be to have a mobile broadband backup for 1 SAOL employee. He\She could then send the mail via GMAIL.
Telling the customers that they can call in to find out what is happening is just not good enough.
