Free ADSL Stats Analyser Utility

Hi everyone

I've written a little proggy that allows you to automatically download your ADSL usage stats and to display them graphically (bar chart) as well as in a table. When minimized to the system tray you can hover your mouse over the icon to display summarised up/download stats. You can also configure it to automatically refresh the stats every so often and to start with windows. If can also detect multiple concurrent connections which can indicate fraudulent use of your account.

This program should work for most SAIX/IS based accounts.

So far it has been confirmed to work on the following account types:
adept
@lantic
axxess
baspnet
cheetah internet solutions
hyperlink
imagine
isoftnet
mweb
navi-9
openweb
saol
telkomsa.net
unilynx
webafrica
x-dsl

The following account types do not work:
(I think they don't work due to the fact that they only support 1 concurrent connection)
tradepage
cybersmart

If you confirm that it works for an account type not listed here please let me know and I'll update the list.

Download it here:

SAIX/IS ISPs please note that I can provide you with customised branded versions of this program for a small fee. You can freely distribute these branded exes to your own clients.

If you have any comments, suggestions or find any bugs please let me know.
Thanks. :)

NB: An online version of SASA is now available: https://antibody-software.com/sasaonline

Great program! It's very neat.

Think there's a little bug in it though - the bytes uploaded / bytes downloaded totals appear to be swapped around, so that the bytes downloaded totals appear below the bytes uploaded column, and vice versa.

(blush) :o
I can't believe I didn't notice that! :) Thanks I've fixed it. You'll have to download it again... ;)

exellent idea

'This file is hosted by Tripod, a Lycos®Network Site, and is not available for download. Please check out Tripod's Help system for more information about Remote Loading and our Remote Loading policy.'

i get that error message when i try and access the download. dunno why though, you have any ideas?

btw nice idea and would love to get ur program, always wanted a nifty little app to check stats on saix account. i seem to be visiting that site once a day and sometimes the page takes forever to load (like everything else at hellkom), this would solve a lot of hassles.

regards

I had the same problem when trying a HTTP download. However, using wget works.

Thanks linux to the rescue, ta titanium for the tip.

Try right clicking on the link and selecting 'save target as...' to download the file if you have problems.

Thanks ant1b0dy, tried wget and it worked. right click save as didnt work, maybe something todo with my browser being firefox :P

one more question, how can i be sure that you dont log or get sent usernames and passwords, not saying that i dont like the program or the idea, but it could be a username and password mining scheme. maybe a copy of the source code would be nice so that my mind could rest before i start using the program, otherwise my isp is going to get a password change request mail pretty soon :P

regards

ps: if you dont want to publish the code for obvious reasons, you can pm me and ill send you my mail address and u can send me the source. i wont use or resell or anything. if you want me to trust you, you gotta trust me not to use your code.

Hi bedlam,

I thought of this too when I first downloaded it, and ran tcpview while running the app. Found that it opens a HTTP connection to rrba-nms1.saix.net, which has the same IP address (196.43.1.45) as the site userstats.adsl.saix.net. No other connections are made. I'll run some more checks with ethereal later, but I'm pretty sure this app is legit and no info is sent elsewhere.

Yep I can understand you guys being paranoid but I assure you it's quite safe to use. I'm prepared to mail the source of the main form to anyone who wants to have a look (it's not enough to compile the whole thing but if you understand Delphi code you'll see it's safe).

:)

Cool thanks,

Its not that i want to stop ppl from using this program, its great and from what ive seen of it so far it r0cks, its just u have no idea who to trust these days on the net. If its legit, then its all good, but until then i have my doubts bout using it - no offence ant1b0dy.

regards

My mind is at rest seems too be a legit program.

Nice work aswell, find it very useful and i dont need to check the website anymore. This is def going to goto into my startup from now on !!

If you could add the login feature i mentioned in the pm that would make this program even more worthwhile as u can see if your account is being abused or not.

maybe highlight the row in the table red where a session has started after the first session of the day, or something like that. im sure if u decide to use it you would come up with something neat.

good luck and keep us updated on newer versions !!

Regards

Nice. Suggestion - GPL it and release the source code: those with insight into non-SAIX accounts could then extend its functionality to cover those, too. If you adopt this approach it could ultimately become the standard usage measurement tool for all ADSL users in South Africa. If you want to prevent providers from profiting from it, assign copyright to the MyADSL forum - there are lawyers on this forum who could draft a water-tight usage and distribution license that would prevent providers from profiting. My 2c...

Another thought - if you GPL it, there are those who could port it to other platforms, who are familiar with Kylix, for example...

Can't seem to download it ?
Zip file turns up empty.

Sent you a PM - mail it to the address there and I'll host it.
