Why cant MTN supply settings for IM on your cellphone. I mean the phones supports it already.

Uh, I do believe something is in the pipeline, it was mentioned to me that MIM is being tested, supports MSN, Y!,AIM, and ICQ.
MTN staff might be able to comment on this.

I cannot understand it? What has changed? I used to be able to use Yahoo's mobile instant messenger service. Cant get it to work anymore. Have MTN realized that they could be loosing out on some sms revenue and stopped it?

Just tested mine and it works fine. Hmmm. Problem could be on your handset?

I get connection lost, try again... error on my phone. Nokia 6220. I have strong signal and I get the Yellow Broadband (not that it is necessary) message in my cell info display. I get this error sometimes when I just want to go to Yahoo Sign In page and other times I get it when I submit my usrname and password. I got in once before though.

What could be wrong?

As soon as I go to the following settings, it works better, but as I have to go to the messanger link, after Sign In, I get "page not found" message.

Does that make sense?

In a few days time,A SA company will be launching a IM service. It will allow you to send a IM to non clients. All you need is a cell number .+Push to talk, sync ml,etc

Johan. I have the same problem. My wife has a 6220 and I had a 6230 and we could not get it to work. Tried www.yamigo.com but it was intermittent. I dont want a getjar type java program. I want it to ring on my phone so I know when I am getting a message. The other programmes you have to be looking at the screen. I have been dying to get away from SMS, but its not an optition right now...

Problem with mxit is that you can't multitask...Yamigo is good for that but like Wondered said it's intermittent...it's been patchy for about a month and a half.

Haven't tried agile - it's only for symbian phones as far as I could see (although they do mention J2ME support but it's not on their download page).
You have to pay for it as well. There is lots of these types of apps for free.
Can you use your phone as normal while agile is running or do you have to quit?

I tried agile on my phone. It works fine. I am stil using the trail version. Isn`t there an IM program for free?
