Current Version 1.0.8 - Monitor and analyse your signal levels of visible/connected tower(s)

Description:

utTraceStar is a versatile tool to analyse, optimise and detect possible problematic areas with an Iburst connection
It analyses the signal strength received from a particular or many towers.
utTraceStar is derived from the idea behind iConnect and expanded into a new direction.
utTraceStar is available as freeware

Features:
  • Fast load time
    • Graph self designed:
    • Color coded according to signal strength
    • X axis at top and origin at top left corner so that up is good (because signal recieved is measured in negative values)
    • Up to two extra towers can be added on top of the general connection graph

  • Signal rating system to guide new users to what is good or bad
  • Shows detailed info on current connected tower and visible towers
  • Analyses and stores info on connected towers and visible towers (min, ave, max ect for each tower)
  • Averages signal strength over up to 70 recorded values (current connection)

  • Supports logging of results:
    • List of towers visible and connected storage and retrival (with min, ave, max ect)
    • General log of towers connected and visible
    • The general log can be converted from CSV to Colour Coded HTML
(this allows for in depth analysis long after logging)
  • Includes an IP Setup Wizzard for Ethernet Users (USB coming soon)
  • Allows for the starting/stopping of monitoring within program
  • Compatible with iConnect's format of towers.ini (to get tower names)
  • 41Kb zipped size
Lacks Features:
  • Concurrent ping test (implementation currently not planned)
  • Installer (waste of space might be implemented due to check .net)
  • Transparency (not applicable for application style)
  • Tray icon (implementation currently not planned)
NOTE: utTraceStar requires the DotNet framework ver 1.1 and will work on any microsoft operating system

Ah very nicely done. Weldone and I wish you all the best :)
What IDE did you use out of interest?

Thx Guys please report any bugs or suggestions here
Dfantom---Visual Studio .Net of course

Whats the possbility of releasing the source code? I more willing to tinker with C# than delphi ;)

Glipsie

So now we have two versions that do roughly the same thing. Thank you both for your efforts. Very useful utilities.

Wouldn't it be good to toss around some NFS's that could be useful going forward as the base stations clog up?

I would like to know how many other devices are connected to 'my' base station at a given instant.

Other New Feature Suggestions, anyone?

The only variable we have for that is load and from what i see 0 is unloaded and 3 is loaded thats all perhaps one could speculate each number to be say one full array element out of 12??? But this would be poking ones head in the dark.

Btw a tower transmits
33.8 dBm/user maximum at 12-antenna composite

hmmm

Has load not possibly got something to do with the 3 spatial channels?

BTW check out the new icon's for iConnectC#

Version 1.0.2 released

Added:
Logging of results (towers visible and connected storage and retrival and general log of towers connected and visible that can be stored as HTML)

Does iConnect work through a broadband router? I can't seem to connect. Is there a way to specify the iburst utd modem address in iconnect?

I will look into that, there is a way to specify the address but I haven't tested any other address system so didn't give the user that option. Crash or Gres may have tryed other addresses and since I don't have a UTD available ... is at work so I cannot get straight onto that. If your router has a way to set the address that would be your best method for the moment.

Alternatively you could do some testing without the router and when happy plug back in.

nicely done

Hi there,

cool tool...
BUT.. it is telling me the I have -97 to -117 signal, while I actually have 80 - 98% and giving it 3/10.

should I send you more information?

I just wanted to check what towers I am connected to or can see. So it's done what I wanted.

Thanks
