Hi,

Can someone please explain how SAOL claims that thier 1Gb account is R129. But if I buy thier 3Gb option it's only R399??

1Gb is 129 x 3 = R387. Thats R12 cheaper than thier 'Only R399' package?

Also Why do I have to go the whole month with disconnects and wait for my account to be capped BEFORE I can get my 2nd Gb?

Desiree Chetty Isn't very helpful, her response reads as:
Hi [Name],
Account will remain as is.

Do you know how difficult it's not to send a response: 'No it won't, it's cancelled.' ??

@SAOL: It's damn difficult forking out extra cash to stay with you, telling myself 'it's better that Telkum'. And get responses like Desiree.

I feel your pain!

Look ISPs are reselling the product at the profit. With MrBeep as a clear exception, it seems that isps are not willing to earn that profit.

They don't care! They think we are all stupid and that none of us has the brains to swop providers. They are all on this please don't go back to telkom bull****.

But think about this, by going back to telkom for R249 a month, you save so much time that you would of spent in waiting for sites, phoning these bastards and so forth. It just makes more sense to go for the "best" rather than to show loyalty. Why support people with bad products and attitudes?

In this country there is a big problem with people not wanting to pay for services rendered! And equally big problem is business not wanting to provide proper services for those who pay for them.

Show us value, and we'll show loyalty!

Why dont you just get yourself a non-isp email address, that way you can do isp hopping as much a you'd like and keep the same email.
Giving a 'free' email address with a isp account is actually one of the oldest tricks worldwide for ISPs to make sure they keep their customers.

Get your own email - EVERYONE. Selling your soul for the free email is just not worth it.

go to http://co.za and register a domain (R50 bucks per year)
or
go to hetzner, pay 19 bucks a month for a small account, and get them to do the domain for you (probably charge a bit, but worth it if you do not know how). Their support can help with mail settings I think.

Done!
No more [email protected]

with respect with the email, best is to register your own domain, it is not completely free as it cost like ~R50 per year + some hosting, but it is by far the most flexible option

you can host it even at home on your adsl line, setup an email server and with some of the dyndns services that support linking to real domains

Then when you try to send email 90% of the recieving email servers block you thinking that you're spam. So - no - hosting your own email server is no longer an option. Stupid spam !

I'm also hearing that you can receive this type of email in MS outlook, but can't send. They offer POP3 but not SMTP, so you have to use the webmail service for any sending, which kinda sucks!

Why not just use smtp.saix.net? then you can host your email behind ADSL... but I would still recommend using an ETRN hosting provider to spool your email, or at least setup an internet based backup MX... I think no-ip does this for a nominal fee.

but SAOL gives you the option to lock it at 24Hr resets.. as long as you take responcibility for bandwidth exceeding your cap in the last session. Same as all other ISP's.

SAOL are amateurs. I mean I had an account with them for 3 months and they didn't debit my account. Just by chance I noticed that their debits weren’t going off. So I contacted them and afaik someone had “forgotten” too set the flag on my account right. Then they proceeded too try and make as if it’s my problem to pay them after they stuffed up. REALY SWAK. Save yourself the trouble guys if you want an ISP account get a IS account or a Telkom account or both.

Oh as a side note it took them half and hour to pick up the phone.

If anybody from saol reads this

This is really strange but I was charged ten times last session and capped here is part of statement

Another weekend with 3G?

Do you have a normal or IPC account?

My account is
ADSL 10 GIG Shaped - 1 Concurrent Login

Well I see that somebody from saol is here, do I deserve any kind of answer? Maybe I just need to sent one month notice to saol and find somebody who has time to answer to its customer.

You obviously don't know me, nor have you dealt with me personally if you think that I deal with clients in this manner.
You might consider it rude to stand up to for your convictions, but this forum is where you can let your hair down and have your say.
It' a public forum, yes where you can let you hair down, etc, though I wont advise any business to do it in a manner that you did.
For one - SAOL has lost me as a possible future client, just because of this thread, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Is it so hard to just let it go now? You’re obviously doing more damage than good.

Note To All

Okay guys. Flame fest removed. All parties including the ISP in question would do themselves a fav by sticking to the issues at hand. I don't see the difference between helping a customer in public as opposed to helping a customer in private. A problem solved in public is probably better IMO.

Note to all: Please steer clear of personal attacks...
