Scam Alert!! www.aureustech.co.za are a bunch of cons!!!

Hi
I just wanted to warn other form users about www.aureustech.co.za Steer clear of these guys. They are a bunch of cons. I am still waiting for Tablet PC I paid for about two months ago. I contacted them numerous times and kept getting told that the item is imported and they were waiting for customs clearance etc etc.... Finally last week they told me they were refunding all the customers who ordered that item because they could not get the stock and to forward an acc. no. to transfer the refunds into. I waited a week for the refund and today still nothing. To top it all the very same item is now advertised on their site for double the price. I checked their site last week and it wasn't listed but this week it is!! This is strange since they are supposed to have not been able to source stock. The 'director' of this scam operation, Dreyer Smit cannot explain how this item inexplicably appeared on their website when I challenged him. It has been a tiresome experience and I'm still waiting for my refund...-So no Tablet PC and no refund yet.
Just be careful guys

Update: Thanks to the amazing response from members of the mybb forums, I have been refunded. But just for the record, their drivel of a response below stated that they would contact me shortly. I have not been contacted by them yet.

If it is too good to be true, it is probably a scam.

Hopefully you won't need to go the small claims court route to get your money back. That is still an option tho.

Have you submitted a complaint on HelloPeter?
Have you threatened them? Threatened to submit complaints/negative reviews to oneshop.co.za, jump, shopmania?

Here's the owner contact details for the domain:

Dear client
We would like to apologize for the delay and/or experience you had with us. We only strive to give our clients, of which there are many, the best experience online.
In this case we investigated and found that the client was offered a refund numerous times after the first delay in delivery. We have explicitly recommended and notified the client that it was fully in his right to request the money back. We also offered him the option to take the refund and be placed on the waiting list for these items.

The client refused.

According to our records the refund was executed as per timeline given, and within CPA regulation of 15 days from said cancellation. We are not a scam, and we can support that claim with thousands of client testimonials.

Again, we apologize for the terrible experience and we will be in contact shortly to assist you in improving this situation.

Regards

Ok- So now I realize what the problem is. You people don't want to supply me the item at the price it was advertised at when I ordered and paid for it- so you strung me along for two months in the hope that I would accept a refund instead of the item I paid for. Now I am being refunded very quickly after I made a fuss and threatened to post on the mybb forums. Very honest of the people at aureustech. Note that the 'reason' I am being refunded is because the item is out of stock and according to Dreyer, there is no eta on stock but just today i see the item is newly listed @ twice the price and says clearly says 'usually ships in 2-3 days'- Now thats funny because aren't I on the waiting list for that exact item. Heres the link posted below and ( I can post a jpg of the page in case the 'good people' at aureustech decide to take the page down)

Well all can i say to them is that all I want is the item that i paid for at the price I paid for it. To not deliver items that have already been paid for just because you realize you can make more because demand for that item has driven up the price is just plain dishonest in my book. By the way, I learned of their offer right here on the mybb forums otherwise I never would have bought an item from an unknown website. And for the record, i never refused the refund because Dreyer kept on giving me some story about the shipment being held up in customs that they were definitely going to have stock once it cleared.

Thanks for the head up op, i will avoid these guys. I only buy from reputable outlets anyway, would advise you to do the same in future.

Its not always the guy you buy from that is a scammer, but rather him being scammed by a dodgy chinese supplier. I had an episode like this when I bought a Alienware mx18 on BidorBuy from some nice afrikaans dude for like R9000. It was a replacement for a top range different Asus that I have paid for, and first advertised, but could not source for me because of supplier shortages. Not knowing my laptops that well, I did research on Alienware and realised the price is about a third its supposed to be and thought its too good to be true. But I had already paid, and was assured it was not a scam. After three weeks of it not having arrived, I asked about the suppliers and eventually got their name - some chinese company - googled them and got to Alibaba.com which is warning signs for scammers. At the end of the day the package arrived - two pirated Windows 95cd's! Luckily I was refunded, and he took the loss. So he was not a scammer, he just made an honest mistake.

There is no 2 ways about it, sadsac786 was promised a product at a certain price and the company did not deliver.

Contrary to the owners belief he is liable under the CPA for not delivering even if he "offered the client a refund". If you can't deliver you say so upfront, none of this: We'll hold onto your cash until we get the product, ooh oops no I can't get it any more. That 15 day refund BS doesn't count if you give the client the option of A) never receive a product or B) your money back. Failure to deliver within 1 month already made the CC liable.

Technically you were entitled to your money back plus interest, I assume that technicality escaped them (once again breaching the CPA).

Best to avoid them IMHO, there are better companies out there, Wootware for example.

Actually, this is a very good way to get a quick loan....

Advertise items for cheap, get a load of cash in for some business....after two months if the business makes cash, refund everyone at the same price...perfect~

I actually had a great experience with this company. Bought a tablet PC from them, and when I wanted to load custom rom and software and wasn't gutsy enough to do it myself, they offered to do it for me. They even paid for the postage back to me!

I've ordered from overseas directly as well, and they might just be at the wrong end of a bad deal with their suppliers.

Um, why not just give him what he paid for two months ago ? That would assist in "improving this situation".

I believe the OP in this instance... the blah blah waffle spin reply does not wash with me. I had a similar tussle with Digital Planet, they strung me along for around two months for something they had no intention of supplying after I had paid for it... excuses of delay, promises of delivery and eventually the promise of a refund - all the time the item still being sold on their site. Their official response just before the refund after my howling was almost a copy and paste of these guy's response.

Just ship him the tablet he paid for OK at the price he accepted and paid.

Dude, did you even take the time to check the links to Oneshop, FindPrice and Shopmania at the bottom of the store webpage? All 3 have contact forms available.

It amazes me why people only do their homework after the brown stuff has hit the fan.

Agreed, seems like just another case of someone not doing their homework..
