Question about changing nick

You cannot change the name itself. You can put stuff in front or behind it I think. (Have not tried it myself.)

Since you have just started, it is probably best to just create another account with the name you actually want.

BF2 added the facility of allowing a prefix.

On the account login screen, there is a field where you can type your prefix.
You can change it as you will - it will, however, apply to all accounts in BF2.

Yep. There's a post in the application section that gives you instructions etc.

Must be a problem with your gateway - who's your link through?

Hmm. I'm currently going thru SAIX fixed line. Maybe there's a problem with the ADSL transparent proxy farm. Perhaps try forcing your proxy to 'cache.saix.net' port 8080.

Hmm.. haven't had that at all recently.
The system reboots at about 1pm our time - but it's usually back within 5 minutes.
Quite honestly, I haven't seen any timeouts or anything, though a couple of members have reported that. *shrug*

Weird. Some people seem to be having issues with it. I'm accessing it fine.
There you go calling me Weird. I'm a WARGeek not a WEIRDGeek.
Don't worry Angellus. I'm one of the "couple of members" thats getting the 504 error. Fear not we will make TG a believer yet. Get rid of that spasmodic shrug that he is getting just lately :p

EDIT: Perhaps we can get Stoke to spank TG's gateway. :D

Hi my name is Drusky and I too have experienced the 504 error

...all this spanking is a bit much.
I say beat the gateway, pulverize it, hammer it, pound it.

If you keep getting Gateway timeout errors and what not when accessing the site (and it's not around 5am or 1pm), then it's probably the ADSL transparent proxies that are messing you around.

I don't have this problem because I've configured cache.saix.co.za port 8080 as my proxy server.

The quickest way to do this is in your browser:

Firefox:
Tools->Options->Connection Settings
Manual Proxy Configuration
HTTP Proxy: cache.saix.net Port 8080
[X] Use this proxy server for all protocols

Internet Explorer:
Tools->Internet Options->Connections Tab
Now, if you have a PPPoE connection via Windows, select that connection in the box at the top, and click SETTINGS.

OR, if your router or firewall does the connection, click LAN SETTINGS.

[X] Use a proxy server for this connection/for your LAN
Address: cache.saix.net Port 8080
[X] Bypass proxy server for local addresses

IPCop:
If you have an IPCop (like me), then you can configure the SAIX proxy as your proxy uplink, and then configure your browser to use the ipcop proxy (or set it to transparent in the ipcop settings).
If you've got an IPCop, I'm sure you don't need me to hold your hand on how to do this.

NOTE: I've noticed that the SAIX proxy server won't allow you to connect to some sites (like clanwars.co.za) for some reason. If you come across an 'access denied by cbt-saix.something' then you can add the address you're trying to reach to your browser proxy bypass.

For Internet Explorer, it's under the ADVANCED connection settings.
For FF it's the box labeled 'No proxy for:'

Hope this helps.
