Anyone else also struggling to access almost all sites - both local and int - started about 30 minutes ago
Saix 384 in Vanderbijlpark

I'm in Alberton... I can access local just fine... but international HTTP is all down...nothing... nada

MSN Messenger and Skype still working

Same here. Most international http sites loading very slowly. https seems ok.

Saix speedtest still over 50kB/s Gamco only about 8KB/s

Changing to manual proxy seems to largely solve the problem

me 2, jhb auckland park area, international is either dead or dead slow. saix 512

info

i found this on the Axxess network notice page:
Severity 1 Network Faults latest
Call Reference ID : STT000000004624
Failure Type : Network Failure
Problem Description : Line down from Rosebank to Amsterdam
Time Down : 29 Mar 2006, 16:55:00
Impact : All customers might experience slow International browsing
Site : Rosebank
Services Affected : Internationa
Updates :

29 Mar 2006, 17:06:40 coghlac
Our technicians are busy investigating.

Cause of Failure : Unknown
Status : New

I'm also having trouble accessing intl sites.
SAIX 512 Sandton
http seems to be the only thing affected. MSN, https, p2p all fine.

The joys of using Telkom...

SAIX international is slower, but usable, Mpumalanga 512

Telkom is upgrading broadband networks in lieu of the new announcements of price reductions and speed improvements.
They are reducing the line fee by 50% making it affordable to everyone. The line speed will unfortunately be dropped to 56K as history proved that is all that was needed in the old days as that would allow a higher contetion ratio. More PPL can then use the net at the same time. Before we forget we are moving to per bit billing so you only pay for what you need. If you cut off after 8 bits thats all you pay for.

Ps the cap will be limited at 100 K as that is all you would be able to get with the millions of broadband users we expect to enroll one day!
