Hiya ppl, dunno if this belongs in this section (feel free to move mods) but here goes... :D
I am up for a cell upgrade and not too sure on what to get.

Any opinions or real life experiences would be appreciated.

I currently have Nokia 6230, previously had Nokia 6310i.
I am disappointed in the 6230, not long battery life and signal sucks bad.

I am looking for mostly a connectivity-based cell phone most of all, doesn't have to be 3g (but it will be a +), gprs, bluetooth, good battery-life, signal strength, etc. Cam, music, storage capacity would all b optionals.
If it looks good too it is a bonus!!

lemme hear ;)

Still going with the Sony Ericssons. I have the K750i and its hard to fault. Can get the w800i if u prefer it in white with a 512MB memory stick...

Or the most recent version is the W810i, which is black like the K750i and would get my vote. Check out sonyericsson.co.za for more info :)

And no, i am not affiliated with SE in any way b4 u ask...

Just my 2c :)

hhmmm ok thx hj..
I have tried the SE before, I didnt like their menu's and navigation. Has it changed from a view years back?
Is the W900 not the big brother of the W800?

You are going to have problems beating the 6310i's battery life - that was one of the best ever!

From a battery perspective, stay away from the 3G phones, rather go for something with EDGE. Most 3G phones only get about 2 days worth of juice.

hhmmm... ok will def check this out.
I currently use GPRS on 6230 if I have to... within an hour 1/2 the phone needs to be recharged (from being fully charged). so ye... guess the same woud apply to 3G phones, especially if it is permanently on...

Wow, that seems a bit too bad... Granted, I never use my phone for consistant GPRS/3G (I have a 6680, alwyas on 3G), but I use it for casual browsing, SMSing, phoning and emailing (it automatically checks two acounts every 1 hour) and it lasts me two days...

I'm really disappointed in the 6230 in the 2 areas of signal and battery life
The worst choice I have yet made in a cell phone.
battery is still fine but signal strength being bad... :(
but it's lasted me 2 years, so ye....

The D600 is still the best phone out there
The new Motorola RAZR is also supposed to be pretty good (RAZRx or RAZRi or something of the sort)

The Samsung D600? They stopped making this phone, apparently because it aint the THING anymore..
They got a new one they punting (dont recall name now)
Are u talking about the Sliver phone when talking bout Razr?

nokia have kinda lost the plot recently but their "n series" shows some hope.
My dad has a motorola, my mom has a samsung and me and my Sis have sony ericsons. Sony E's are probably the most feature filled and easy to use. a mate of mine has the W810i and it is incredible

Got a W800i, ..looove it, the navigation on SE's are sweet, ..ye the W810i has EDGE, ..W900i is cool, but a little fat depth-wise, and I don't want to have to twist my phone every time I want to use it.
Great 2MP Auto-Focus Camera, as good as it gets at the mo.
'cept, the W810i doesn't have a lens cover, pity..
I prefer the W800i.. tho I wouldn't mind finding a black cover for it, not because I don't like the colour, just that I'm sure aging will be more noticable on a light coloured phone.

There are very few phones with a nice big colour screen and good battery life...

I just keep a charger at home and at work... When I use the 3G connection with my PC, I plug in the charger every time...

Oh, this is for a 6680 - I'm very happy with it. :D

lilDeath : You are thinking about the Samsubg D820. It is not a replacement for the D600, but an entirely different model. Smaller form factor, less features

And no, I wasn't talking about the SLVR. I was talking about the RAZR

MadAtter : Yep, Nokia have been making junk phone for ages now (and lost a ton of market share due to it). They finally make some nice sliding phones about the sise of the D500/600, but forget to add any features. A VGA camera! Stupid Nokia
But the N series seems to be their attempt at getting back in the game. The N91 looks quite good with some good features (although it's mp3 player is dead in the water)

best current 3G phone: Nokia n70 - about 3 days fair usage
Best current non-3G Phone: SE W810i is (almost) out - w800+ edge.

Yes, my mate has one of these. Looks really good. Slidy phone and very thin...But really lacking on features, like no expandable memory in this day and age?!
