I've got an older 60gb Photo and love it.
Nice quality equipment,
good sound,
loads of accessories,
good secondary hard drive - can easily boot from it too
its functional with a good menu system
and lastly, and most importantly, it ties into my mac like nothing else does.
You're not limited to iTunes so you can stop spitting - check out Anapod which afaik also lets you directly copy mp3s. From what I can tell the renaming helps with playlists (which are probably my favourite feature). Playlists make so much more sense than folders.Personall I can't stand iPods. I have a 4G mini. Yes its a nice functional MP3 player, but I can get a JNC for cheaper which does more!
Main gripes:
STILL no line-in for recording
Limited to using iTunes (spits!)
No direct copying mp3's to and from device (yes I know they are hidden and renamed - how dumb is that)
Memory not upgradeable.
oh what's the point if having an ipod when your Cellphone can play mp3's from your own collection for free, take photo's & play on the net!. Waste of money imo.
Well, does your phone have 8GBs of storage for MP3s?! I thought not.
1) Phone photo quality still sucks, no matter what.
2) Browsing the net on a phone sucks, and it costs alot
3) A DECENT phone, with a DECENT camera and memory cards up to 8GB (or 60GB if you have a 60GB iPod) will cost you WAY more than the MP3 player.
Hell, even a mid range Cell phone today costs more than a 30GB iPod.
I have a 30Gb photo and 60Gb video, and I love them.
Two of my favourite features:
1. iPod plugged into a normal powered PC speaker set and using it as an alarm clock (specific "alarm" playlist to wake up to in the mornings)
2. I use it as an external storage device when my 6Gb Microdrive fills up (it plugs directly into the Canon and import the photos ... no need to lug around a notebook)
Oh, and they look freakin' hot next to a MAC![]()
