Hi,

I am doing some tests with serial connectivity between two devices across the GPRS network. Does anyone know what a VPN would cost? What does the cost depend on (Number of sim cards registered on APN maybe etc) Also, is communication possible across the public, "internet" APN? Maybe this is not a good idea. *Newbie* Thanks.

You should be able to use the MTN VPN APN and no different price plans are used.

As far as I knew ,mtnvpn is a internal apn ? Mtn dude can you clarrify that? A VPN would depend on what program it is? There are a raneg available on the market? Windows server comes with microsoft VPN already.. (as far as I remeber)

Hi - I have been using MTNVPN to connect to the company I work for, over past few months with no problem. HOWEVER, this last Wednesday they cut off the service. You just get a 'connection failed' message. No warning that they were going to do it.
I have called the help desk a good number of times and each time they say they must just reset my number, and it should work within 2-24hrs. Still no joy, and am becomming frustrated. They tell me there is a corporate section that does this and they are closed after normal office hours and I must now wait till Monday. Not happy.:(
Based on my experience in the last week, I don't expect much joy on Monday either.

Hi all

All subscribers have to know go via their SP or via the call centre, to get this provisioned, what was happening is APN with prepaid sims were not being charged at all and had freedom to internet at zero cost. This is now sorted out.

Provisioning will have to be done during office hours only.

APN provisioning will be for contract numbers only.

Now im totally confused. From what I understand you said that i can connect two GPRS modems over the public VPN using the mymtn vpn?

MTNDataDude *You should be able to use the MTN VPN APN and no different price plans are used.*

But NOW, only contract customers will be provided with an APN. OK.

So this means that I need two contract sims to be able to connect GPRS modems over a private VPN using an APN that the call centre will provide me with.

Back to my initial question, any idea what the provision of a VPN and APN will cost me if anything. Thanks 4 the help.

Hi - I am a contract customer, and have been asking to have my card reset to use VPN again, since Friday, again today after a 1hour plus conversation, and to this minute, still no connection. Maybe someone is taking my phone off the VPN list faster than it is being put back on? Whatever, it is very frustrating. Help desk don't seem to know what VPN is or the policy and I get a different answer each time I call. Only constant is no VPN for me. MTN Data Dude, is there any top guy there who can really help? They keep telling me they are sending a request to the dept. concerned and I will be reconnected, but nothing happens. I have the feeling I am talking to the wrong people. I am being as nice and polite as possible, but starting to feel I am on a shuster show or something.

Okay,

What was happening is we were allowing connectivity through the MTN VPN APN - but we've now changed it to subscribe - Prepaid users were able to connect to the VPN/APN without being charged. Marketing are working on the VPN/APN Marketing, so Prepaid could also be subscribed, so I'll keep you updated.

As for the cost seeing that it's been changed I'll find out and get back to you on that one...............

Thanks MTNDD
