There was a post in this forum about the customer service survey on the iBurst site a while ago, so muggins here went and filled it in. Blow me down if an iBurst chap didn't phone me today to find out when he can make a site visit to improve my connection!!!!

He hasn't been out yet (my scheduling issues, not his), and I will certainly post if the guy makes any kind of difference.

Compliments to iBurst for trying.

Had the same experience today, but couldn't accept the offer of a site visit since I'm never home during reasonable hours.

I improved my signal on average by about 12 dB (after monitoring for a couple of days) by moving the UTD into the roof on the tower facing side of the house, so the signal is acceptable, although not optimal..

Now I just want to see a comprehensive list of tower names, numbers and locations... :)

BTW, according to the guy I'm exactly 3.7 km from the tower, my UTD calculation is 4.2 km using 300 000 000 m/s as the speed of the radio waves (approx speed of light in vacuum).

I had a visit last Wednesday! Nishal Sahadeo (he is an RF QC Engineer) phoned me Wednesday morning & arranged to come out Wednesday afternoon.

True to his word, he rocked up here with his GPS sticking out of his window & laptop on the passenger seat, with the GPS software.

We spent a lot of time in- & outside the house and managed to boost the signal with an external antennae. However, the difference is not that great and I'm sticking with my desktop USB modem.

But yes, iBurst is starting to deliver....

Thumbs up for service. Just hoping we get similar progress on the product/specs/price side soon.

That's what will make the real difference to me. My contract ends this December, and what with the competition also starting to deliver, I'm going to take a serious look at the broadband landscape.

I also filled out the customer servey and low and behold, Nishal showed up at my house. He really goes the extra mile, i had him on my roof running around looking for better signal for two days. He even climbed a tree to get onto one of our sheds.:D

Hats off to him and Iburst.

Same here, but my phone was off as I was on leave yesterday and the dude left me a message to tell me he would like to schedule a site visit...now that's nice, he's most probably gonna tell me to get an antennae (I know I need one!), but it is a step in the right direction. Well done Iburst.

Nishal is a man on a mission. He visited me yesterday. Was great to find where the optimal signal area is. He did a great job.

This sounds great.. I guess they wont phone me, im not shure what I said in my survey anymore, probably nothing special for them to want to come out.

And they also have about noo ne in Caper Town. Do they even have any official representation in CPT? Besides the resellers.

just my freaking luck .. i get the crappy news letter but i get no service  in that case , Ed, Edd & Eddy can keep the news letter in trade for some service :(

When the iBurst guys saw you're from Benoni, they put your paperwork at the bottom of the pile. Their cars are not souped-up enough to drive in Benoni's main road.

LMAO!! maybe the guy doesn't have a gun? hehe, that's ugly

good = iburst is moving in the right direction (and having [it seems] enthusiastic employees, makes it better)
bad = no call. that sucks. (and no, im not from benoni, hehe)

*maybe they need passports... and the CEO is the only one with 1 but refuses to visit there? :P

anyhow I would like to see what else iburst have on their sleeves for the 4Mbps that teleskum is providing...

Why is everyone so impressed by 4mbits? Before everyone said it wont help is Iburst increase the speed we just want caps etc. Now suddenly you all fall for Telkoms marketing and say "well ADSL is 4mb now, so Ibursts 1mb is useless or not up to it etc.."

Doesnt make sense.. nevermind the fact that Iburst is generally cheaper than Telkom 4mbit offering, with the same caps and hardcapped ADSL.
