This morning I cancelled my iBurst account. At lunchtime I'm going to fetch my HSDPA card. Here's looking forward to no longer having to deal with crappy iBurst signal even though you supposedly live in a high coverage area.

I'm sure you'll find HSDPA pretty crappy too, ill see you in those forums then :p

At least with them coverage isn't a issue, your right, but actual speeds especially compared to what they advertise is a problem.

Tell us how it goes if you don't mind, I'd be interested to hear from someone who's had iBurst.

LOL . Wait till they get triple billed or crap like that ..

Haha, I like how everyone is all like "See ya! Don't let the door hit you on the way out!"

LMAO! yeah, i hope he was on the northcliff tower. that tower seriously needs less load.

and plz come post your exp here compared to iburst.

The only problem is that I think his iBurst experience was terrible, from the sound of it. So HSDPA should really be better for him.

Sounds like he didn't really check his signal much either, UTtracestar or a demo probably could have saved him this bad experience.

Ekhaatvensters for all the positive things you say about IBurst, they should give you a free G9 account :)

You want us to start a petition???

hehe ... i was pretty pissed off when i posted that yesterday .. needed an outlet :)

actually i did monitor my signal, and spoke to the people at iburst about it. in other places my iburst experience was great, but at home in douglasdale i have had nothing but trouble for over a year now (i think i signed up at the end of the beta run).

what seems to have been happening (using uttracestar & talking to iburst) is that for some reason i kept getting bumped off the towers closer to me, like bryanston, and connecting to towers in kyalami and northcliff, and my signal would be terrible and bounce around all over the place. from what iburst told me this was due to tower load, but i'm not so sure. if that was the case, then i felt slighted like the problem was theirs, and i have been suffering for it. was a pity too, since at work for example iburst signal was strong and latency was very low.

i got my HSDPA card yesterday and tried it out last night. at home i only really use my connection to play WoW, and the improvement for me was dramatic, no more lag spikes, and lower latency.

so no, i'm not iburst-bashing, when it works it works really well, but for me it was no longer an option.

Wouldn't mind... lol im not always that positive am I, I think GreatBigMouth takes the cake there.

I got a bit pissed off at them too sometimes, but if you read the Hellopeter entries for them, you see that they really did go out of their way to help those people. They just seem willing lately, they'll send a technician to your house etc.. Its alot more than the other big ISP's will do.. but now im being positive again. Damn...

Fine just send the 9G account details.

tjorriemorrie highlights the problem...

So, are you still happy with HSDPA?

This weekend i was at my gf and she has HSDPA. i quickly ran a ping to google. unbelievable. the pings were extremely constant, e.g.
399
398
398
400
399
etc

I mean OMW! So consistant it made me jealous! And not too bad either!

when it works - I get a constant 115 - 135 on HSDPA and 75 - 350 on Iburst.

What site ping are you talking about btw? Local I take it...

But I assume 350 is a big spike... You often get spikes in latency, but it does depend on the time of day/ tower load.

Later at night I can get 75ms almost exactly constant (its crazy really) to myadsl.co.za.

Thas what I get right now, but thats kind of "jumpy" I can often get it just going at one, maby two values for 30 pings or so.

Actually, very. Its a pity that iBurst is lousy where I live, but the reailty is that my gaming experience has improved a hundredfold with HSDPA - the connection is fast and stable, and most especially: it's like that at *any time of day*.
