So last year September I opened a Netflix account using UnoTelly. I used the trial for a while on my XBox 360 and then forgot about it.

So now I want to continue the membership so I have to pay to use the service. Whatever option I choose be it PayPal or Credit Card, I get

I tried both my local and US PayPal account which are both linked to my Standard Bank master card, and I tried using my credit card directly and also specifying a US zip code, but to no avail. I can only presume that the issue is my credit card.

Anybody else have this issue?

use a virtual credit card service such as entropay. their website can detect thru paypal and through your credit card no that it is not a US card hence the need for a virtual credit card. there are plenty of threads on this forum explaining the whole process of getting netflix to work here.

I was thinking Entropay about that until I read this.

However, I really do not recommend you open up an Entropay account. They require that you deposit a minimum of $20 of which they take an "Admin" fee of $4 or $5.
When my attempt to use this method failed and I wanted to close my account, they then charged me a further $6 to close the account. This is a rip off and I strongly recommend against it.

I am actually thinking of just going to FNB and opening up VISA credit card account and try that. But I am lazy and I don't know when I will do it.

That won't work. the card needs to be from the USA.

My standard bank Mastercard credit card works perfectly fine with Netflix.

Used my SA master card for Netflix and Hulu+, just when it comes to the address search US post codes using USPS with your cards numbers as the last 4 digits, there is a thread explaining this pretty well

Netflix has always worked fine with my FNB cheque card. I remember having trouble with Hulu about 6 months ago - something about my card not matching my address - but last month I was able to use my cheque card for hulu too, so they must have changed something.

No need for entropay.

Are you saying I can't just use any valid US zip code. My last 4 card digits are 8403 but I used a valid zip code of 24333. Do you foresee that this is a problem.

The other thing is that I tried 3 times this morning and I got an SMS for each try from Standard Bank saying "R92.48 purchased from Acc: 8403 at NETFLIX.COM. I have a feeling this might be only an authorization though, but I am not sure. I'll check tomorrow and see if it has actually come off my account or not. I tried phoning but nobody from card division is working.

AFAIK the zip code has to match the one on the banks records, mine is 2021, being Bryanston but looking up a similar us post code I get 42021, which I use for my cards, I also have a valid US address but using it never worked with my SA cards

Ah, I understand now. Thanks so much!

I will just hang on till tomorrow to see what will happen with those 3 transaction. Then I will give it another go tomorrow evening with a valid zip code based on my postal code.

Used my local SBSA card for Unotelly, Netflix and Hulu+. Used USA address though

Strange i use my standard Bank cheque card for netflix and PayPal for unotelly, PayPal linked to same card. Works well. Very strange I think I just used one of those fake name websites to get an address and area code. Can't remember

Unotelly worked with my SA PayPal account linked to my Standard Bank credit card. Its just Netflix that doesn't work.

So I tried again with the 90210 zip code, bit I still get the same error even though I get an sms saying the the payment went through on my card.

I decided to phone Standard Bank and they said that all the transactions for NetFlix went through 100%, so I am not sure what is NetFlix's problem. I asked Standard Bank to reverse the transactions which they did.

Not sure what to do now to get subscribed to NetFlix :(

Using 34236 which is my actual US ZIP code didn't work, but using 42021 with 2021 being my ZIP code on record it did work

Do you remember when you got the error and what it said? What is strange for me is that I get the error We are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later. right at the end after my credit card has been debited.
