I think I know why it's free...

If you've been using virgin mobile free internet... I think I know why it's free...
I think it's me (before I'm laughed at, let me first explain) :o

On 20th november I was low on airtime, had R10 left so I purchased R50x2 airtime vouchers, but I decided to run my balance to zero before loading my purchased airtime, so around 7PM I ran out of credit and my connection stopped receiving data, so I loaded my R100(this was my first time I had purchased airtime and loaded it) everything went swell and I went back to surfing.

After about an hour or so I had used about 20MB and decided to check my balance expecting to have R10 less, but to my surprise only R1 had been deducted, did not think much of it at the time but after a couple of days of free internet I was getting a bit suspicious.

So let me point out why I claim to be responsible:
1)Right after loading my purchased airtime my net was free(before loading my credit I was being billed accurately and reached a balance of zero)
2)This was my first time I had recharged my account(I have purchased R200 worth of airtime via FNB cellphone banking since then)
3)Nobody yet has a clue why it's free

Coincidence?
:o

my angle on this

The same thing happened to me but when i went 1km away to my girlfriend they charged me as normal, but not on roaming vodacom.try manually changing your network to vodacom go online and check your balance.mine is still free!i dont think virgin have a problem, my buddy still pays the same but he too got it free when he did what i said.im using a bluetooth dongle to connect with gprs/wap setting on a nokia 6630,and i typed in virgins extra initialisation command :at+cgdcont=1,"ip","vdata","",0,0 demon angel awaits responses.

I know why,They are having a problem with the billing, and this is affecting the whole thing and network( a techy at vm told me)

Off course theres a problem with there billing, thats why its free... :D

My hypothesis is that when I recharged I messed up the entire network
based on my coincidence's 1+2

LOL I'm sure it's coincidence, but right after I recharged?

When you have a billing problem many people will start noticing the problem. There are bound to be some who notice it right after they recharge :p

Before I recharged billing was perfectly normal...

not strange?

Is it still free on your side?
My credit is back to normal. The network was a lot better yesterday (10kb/s downloading) but today it's slow again.

You guys all suck :p It looks like I am the only one being charged for data on VM in the country. Damn it! :D

I ran out of airtime yesterday so I changed the network selector to Vodacom and carried on as normal.

i'm roaming on the VC network with VM but i'm not experiencing this convenient glitch :( should i recharge first or what? i have R5 left ATM

All my downloads is free. I only pay for my uploads. I'm roaming on CellC.

Hey guys, I have been following this too. Got a sim and tested it today. Dowloaded/uploaded close on 80mb and i got charged R1,70! Thats insane. I was using the virgin network. I managed to get on the vodacom network but as soon as i picked up the 3g signal it just lost signal completely. Strange :(

Hi guys.

I am a newbie here, but how do I roam on VodaCom's network with a Virgin Mobile sim in my Nokia 6680?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, nothing to it. Just select Vodacom. Wait till your airtime is out and do the biz and it will be freewheelin from then.
