Telkom releases ADSL contention ratio

If ICASA provided a water tight regulation, then Telkom would lose out. As the largest shareholder in Telkom appoints ICASA, so it is not in their interest to have unmuddied waters ...

Telkom further said that the international ADSL contention ratio can not be released since “this is business sensitive information and cannot be released.”
Telkom back in the trenches, again.
It all boils down to the public being ripped off, something that ICASA chooses to ignore.

Im sorry for being such a nob. but what is the contention ratio? :(

My question too... and I found a very funny explanation here.
Seems like the internet is a series of tubes afterall!;)

But it seems to me that the ratio on its own does not really impart any meaningful information on its own, and that the only contention ratio that we would be interested in would be international.

Odd how they can separate contention ratios for local and international, yet they can't separate data for local and international?

Seems you forgot a few TNS: rape, destruction, obstruction, backwardness: I'm sure I could think of a few more without much contemplation.

NOW I understand. Telkom is a toilet. Full of cr@p! :D

Somewhere, somehow, somebody has been duped. Perhaps through his or her own incompetence or lack of knowledge. Or simply the inability to obtain impartial sources of information for legislation.

Its like buying a lucky packet, is what they're saying. What other company would get away with selling a product with out telling their customers exactly what it is and how it preforms?
It's like buying a car from a manufacturer that wont tell you the engine specs because it is business sensitive information.

TBH : Telkom could publish whatever contention ratios they'd want to, and we'd just have to accept them even thought they'll probably be totally incorrect.
