Recovering Data from a Crashed Hard Drive?

Hi all:)

Is it possible to recover data from a crashed hard drive? I've heard that you require special hardware and/or software? Are there any companies specialising in this in South Africa?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions:)
 
forgotten the name but somewhere in Rivonia was a place... nice thing is you only paid for the amount of data recovered...

dang :/ cant remember the name.

data crisis or some shiat like that.
