Olla!

I would just like to know , am I able to obtain an 128k Sim for MTN on prepaid.

If so where can I get one. I have been calling on various MTN stores and they indicate that it's for Contract Subscribers only.

Please tell me it's available for Prepaid Customers as well.

Does it benefit me to have such a card if I am i.e using the E620 data card?

By the way I don't know the answer to your question

@iDOL

You should be able to do a SIM SWAP and get a USIM

Great thank you very much , would I be able to obtain a USIM from my local MTN store in Sandton City for example ?

Do I need to go elsewhere to get one of these ?

I think the main people that should have these is dealers and MTN stores - Service centres I'm not to sure about

"The high capacity SIM card is no more a SIM card with just memory. It should be viewed as whole new platform for the operator that retains full SIM capabilities. It is a tool that allows the operator to provide higher value to the user, with a wide range of potential applications and business models that were not relevant with regular SIMs. It provides a unique combination of high capacity memory, highest level security and the ability of the operator to provision this storage. To the user it offers the benefit of significantly improved data portability as well as the ability to ‘upgrade’ his/her phone to include features not possible previously. Because the card is owned by the operator it allows the operator to provide the storage dynamically and provide services and content and control exactly what is happening. This could allow them to offer services to the user that increase loyalty and reduce churn."

apart from the above it also has more of the following : SMS storage, GSM Preferred Networks slots, Fixed Dialing Mode numbers

"The USIM could play a very important role as a catalyst for convergence, through the applications it can enable and the strong operator-user connection it creates. For example, we already see demand from the operators for advanced web server and browsing applications for the USIM. The phone will become an important centre for accessing the web and other services that used to be delivered via other platforms. Another example is the USIM’s capability to enable large and advanced phone book applications that are portable between mobile devices, no matter there make or shape (as long as they support SIM). Another example is operators’ high interest in PC to mobile phone connectivity via the high capacity SIM that simplifies the sharing of files and applications between platforms."

SMS are stored on my phone. I know this because I can still see my messages when I change sims.

Changing from a 64k to a 128k sim doesn't appear to increase the capacity of contact lists either. Mind you this was a Virgin sim so anything is possible.

@MTN DD

Brilliant thank you very much , the folks gave me a call I can go an pick up my Sim by today.

All thanks to your intervention
