Was wondering which way to go lately, busy downloading AVG free going to use't for the first time. Any preferences?

I've been using AVG for 6 months without hassles... the only irritating thing about it is the update screen that pops up daily and interrupts whatever I'm busy reading.

Norton should be removed from the face of the earth!

I used Norton Internet Security on my desktop and McAfee Virusscan on my laptop. I have uninstalled both and installed AVG Free Edition - what a difference it has made!! Both my desktop & laptop are much more responsive & in both cases I've 'reclaimed' more than 30MB of RAM....

Can someone add a poll to this - to settle who says what is best argument!.

AVG with the Comodo Firewall. It's the only setup that works for me. I had ZA (sucks) and the newest version of BitDefender (really sucks)

plz rename the topic because its a lie, putting the best anti virus software and norton in the same topic is a sin on this forum and you could banned for up to a week :)

Tried Norton :(
I have now been using AVG for a year problem free :)

Anybody tried Norton 2007? I have AVG now installed on my Vista HDD, still have norton 2007 on my XP HDD. The 1 thing i like about norton 2007 is the adware/spyware scan tool... Does AVG scan for spywares?

Interesting, by scanning a vista HDD (E) using AVG, it picked up threats/viruses on the XP drive (C) which Norton hasn't obviously picked up yet... So yes Norton is a loser...

Avast or AVG. I've installed Avast on dozens of customer PCs, and had no issues.

Norton is the kiss of death to a PC's performance.

K, this is gonna irritate me as well, can't this be disabled or scheduled:confused: tried checking the settings/properties with no avail

That is exactly why norton is a loser, and because it eats up many PC resources to run.

There are free adware/spyware scan tools, I use Spybot (scans and inoculates), Ad-Aware (scans) and SpywareBlaster (inoculates) and Windows Defender (scans)

Changed from AVG to Avast suits me better, updates every day and very fast
