Hi all,
Since Saturday night again, my 384 ADSL line speed has dropped to below 56kbps (average of 6.99KB/sec). Telkom has been out to my house, tested the line and no fault was found (that was on the 15 March). Since then my line was running fast until 24 March in the evening.
I phoned Telkom Sunday morning and the telkom person told me that she can see my ADSL 5100 modem (router) connects at 384 and everything does look ok. She said that the problem is most likely at the ISP as they don't have enough bandwidth allocated to them to handle the load and that this is something that SAIX and they must sort out and not Telkom.
I don't know if this is true, so I would like some input from you guys. My ISP is Imaginet, I don't think it's the ISP because I went to my mom's house in Gordens Bay and her line was fast. (I live in Sonstraal Heights, Cape Town)
My brother works at a company in Stellenbosh and their ISP is Internet Solutions and they are also experiencing slow speeds.
So my question really is, who is to blame and how does one proof it.
