Stand by for cheaper ride on broadband highway

Infraco is ready to offer tier 1 "superhighway" services to Neotel, the second network operator.

Great but this is only within SA, local bandwidth costs are already pretty cheap if you look at IS local only accounts, ignoring Telkom's line rental charges etc. I mean. The problem is international bandwidth which this doesn't address.

If the city is going to be the internet hub of the World Cup then surely this won't only be local internet? As far as i know it's international bandwidth and they're pretty keen to sell bandwidth to the local ISP's and a rate far cheaper than Telkom

They have got SAT3 access for international bandwidth, but that's the same cable that's been there for a while ,there's no new international infrastructure, not yet anyway.
