So my gf is looking to get a new car and is basicly stuck between the Vivo and Aveo

2013-2014 both..

Which is a better bang for your buck and safest as she drives a lot of highway to work and back.

If she's doing a lot of highway driving I'd start by looking at the car's reliability. I would hate to get a call from my wife saying she's stuck in the middle of nowhere. I'm going to go on a hunch and say the VW Vivo is more reliable. I don't have time to do the research. Just for the record I'm not a VW fan, my sis-in-law has a Vivo and I don't like the drive, but it's reliable, hence why she bought it for rep'ing.

They are both "old" models. Especially the Vivo as the vehicle has been around for some time. Both have old technology for engines, gearboxes etc. That being said, the Chev at least has a 1.6 engine that is significantly more powerful that the wheezy 1.4 junk in the polo at the entry level.
I would look at newer vehicles.
Why not look at the Opel Corsa, much newer, better looking, better engine etc. Around the same prices as the 1.6 Polo.
Perhaps the Hyundai grand i10 ?

Although it doesn't answer the question, I totally agree - neither!

The Aveo isn't very good... I'd take the Vivo. BUT, there are many other cars I'd buy for the same price instead of the VW
Like?

keep in mind here at George they have a special for base model without any deposit for 1999pm

open to suggestions for the same price point
