Vodacom would only want a % share, not an outright acquisition, as they mentioned i nthe media. so the name change is irrelevent...i also would imagine that a buy out of any sorts could take upto a year to acheive, look at Telkom - BCX, so why wait...business as usual.
I would also imagine that the recent rally of DataPro shares (up 500+ % over the last year and a jump of 45% over the last 30 days) may make Vodacom reconsider their interest or at least their % stake in DataPro. A year ago I think DataPro could have been a bargain, but with a market cap of around R 3-Billion it can not be considered cheap any more.
Having said that I think DataPro may still be a suitable partner for Vodacom. Strong in the LCR and corporate arena, and their large fixed line broadband user base (own ADSL clients and @lantic dial-up subscribers) wont hurt as Vodacom clearly wants to focus on broadband.
