PS3 Price Drop!!

Sony has unofficially confirmed a $100 price drop for the PS3.

This will kick in on the 15th of July, it should change the price to about R5400 in South Africa which is more appealing but I can't help but feel that if they could break under R5000 it would look so much more affordable...

Either way this should provide the required shot in the arm for PS3 sales... Now when will Microsoft follow?
 
Great news but when its competing against the 360 Pro and Wii which are dirt cheap in comparison then its still too expensive. You're right that it has to break R5K to have mass uptake.
 
Yeah, come on Microsoft!

Make the Pro package $300 and I'll import one tomorrow.

And phase out the Core system...
 
I don't think Microsoft needs to drops the prices, they must just fix the hardware issues.

Well they are working on it, however if they drop the price by the same as the PS3 the core will then be the price of a PS2 in South Africa.... would be great for sales here and worldwide....
 
Great News!!! :)

As the only region where the PS3 has had a price Increase since launch, I wait eagerly to see a R700 drop in price ($100 = R700). Don't know how people are comming to R5400. More like R5900.

from R6,500 to R5,500!! still need to wait for another R2000 now!!! wonder how long we gonna have to wait.
 
well... to me, yes... every single one of those pennies.
I'm a playstation Fan, and i love my ps3, only draw back is that the ps3 hasn't enough games, but that the ones out are great.
You must remember though, I don't use it only for gaming, i use it for media, and media is one of it's strong points.
I like using the browser as it's and fun to what porn(joke)
 
i dunno, the price might have dropped but the games are still way over-priced as are all console game which is why i dont buy them. Yes you can chip the machines but i wouldnt like taking that risk on a 5k machine...

I just picked up two games from Makro for my Xbox 360 at R99 each... not that overpriced really..

The brand new games are pricey but if you don't mind waiting for a bit you can get them dirt cheap.
 
Finally Sony is coming to their senses.

I would be willing to fork out R4500 for a PS3.
